New Metro City in Hot Waters After Rumors of ‘Unfair’ Early Bird Balloting

RAWALPINDI: BSM Developer’s New Metro City Gujar Khan has allegedly conducted an engineered Early Bird Balloting of Sector A that has raised the eyebrows of investors.

According to the details, various real estate agents have alleged that New Metro City (NMC) distributed the balloted plots only among the ‘desired’ individuals.

“The dealers who bought files of Block A did not get any of their plots in balloting as they contacted other realtors and were surprised to know that none of the dealers was lucky enough to have their plot numbered,” a local realtor said.

When contacted by ProProperty, another NMC sales partner, under the condition of anonymity, confirmed the news and stated that not a single one of his files was numbered in this balloting, which was a very unusual occurrence for him.

On 20th August, NMC held a ceremony in this regard that included balloting of 1,962 files of Block A, out of a total 21,000 files that were booked and closed by the investors. The event saw balloting of 5, 7, 10, and 20 Marla plots.

Denial from NMC Authorities

The authorities of NMC, when contacted by ProProperty, completely denied and termed it as a ‘baseless rumor’.

“This was a digital balloting event and was attended by a huge influx of people while only a few lucky contestants have got their plots numbered,” they said.

The BSM Developers, with a similar narrative, stated that “this is a false claim propagated by the competitors to blemish the image of NMC since it was transparent balloting and suggested trying their luck in the next balloting.”

The alleged bogus plot allotment has also been coupled with another story published in Dawn that quotes an investigation into the actions of RDA employees who approved NMC’s layout plan in defiance of the law.
