Pakistan and Japan Explore Collaboration for Earthquake Resilient Infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Japan have engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening their collaboration in the construction of earthquake-resilient infrastructure.

During a meeting that took place in Islamabad between Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Works, and Yasumitsu Kinoshita, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency Pakistan Office.

The Housing Secretary expressed the desire for Japanese assistance, considering Japan’s extensive experience in implementing building codes that can withstand the impact of natural disasters, particularly earthquakes.

Yasumitsu Kinoshita commended the Pakistani government for its efforts in providing affordable housing to its citizens.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of sustainability in housing projects and identified potential areas for future collaboration.

Besides, the minister stated that his dialogue between Pakistan and Japan signifies their mutual interest in promoting safe and resilient infrastructure and exploring opportunities in the field of housing and construction.
