Punjab Government Completes Zero-Waste Campaign in Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab government has completed its 15-day zero-waste campaign, “Safai Nisf Eman” in Lahore.

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) spokesperson stated that extraordinary cleaning measures were implemented throughout the city.

During the campaign, the disposal of over 60,000 tonnes of waste, including over 4,916 tonnes of various types of waste and over 2,000 tonnes of green waste, was collected for composting.

The campaign saw 274 union councils of Lahore declared as “zero waste UCs,” and more than 504 open plots cleared in various towns for the convenience of citizens.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the campaign resulted in over 3,280 complaints being resolved, and 903 challans being issued against the illegal dumping of garbage.
