RDA, Local Govt Asked to Prepare Peri-Urban Plan for Rawalpindi District

RAWALPINDI: On Monday, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Local Government, and other departments were given instructions to create peri-urban structural plans by Divisional Commissioner Saqib Manan.

According to the sources, a meeting was presided over by the commissioner to discuss the creation of Regional Development Plans (RDP) for the district of Rawalpindi and peri-urban structural plans for the tehsil headquarters of the district.

In this regard, a presentation on regional development plans was made by a consultant for Mott MacDonald Company Pakistan.

According to him, he prepared regional development plans for four Tehsils in Rawalpindi, including, Gujar Khan, Taxila, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta while also sharing data with the relevant local governments for their validation and input.

The commissioner praised the consultant’s performance and made him aware that the remaining deliverables must be completed on schedule, satisfying all parties involved, including the general public.

He instructed RDA to focus on the master plan and assigned the task to Director General RDA, Mohammad Saif Anwar Jappa.

Jappa assured all the participants of the meeting that RDA, with the assistance of its consultant, was already putting together peri-urban plans and regional development plans for four Tehsils of Rawalpindi.

He also informed that the Site Development Zones and Urban Planning of Tehsil Rawalpindi were being prepared by PMU of the Local Government Department.

Besides, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal, the District Officers of Planning for Gujar Khan and Chakwal, and other relevant officials.
