RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has warned three marketing companies – Advice Associates, Lead Marketing, and Zameen.com – to immediately stop advertising illegal housing schemes.
RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa states that advertising such schemes is illegal under the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules-2021.
As per Rule 46 (1), sponsors cannot advertise the sale of plots or housing units in print or electronic media or in any manner without the authority’s prior approval.
DG emphasized that the RDA holds the right to initiate legal proceedings against the companies and their owners if they fail to comply with the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021.
He also stated that it cannot be deemed an approved or legal project unless a project receives a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from RDA Rawalpindi.
But unfortunately, the websites of these companies are misleading the public by promoting illegal housing schemes and deceiving them into investing hefty amounts.
DG added that the marketing and projection of such projects create the impression that they are already approved and legal, which is far from the truth.
The advertising companies have been warned that they must not be involved in such illegal activities, as it may deceive the public who invest in illegal housing societies through their platforms.
The RDA has directed the civic body to remove all the constructions related to these illegal schemes that may initiate large transactions of money from the public in the shape of booking plots in unapproved/fake/illegal housing schemes.
This is to prevent the public from being deceived through electronic media.
In conclusion, DG reminded the public that the legal status of any project is easily accessible on RDA’s website (www.rda.gop.pk) or can be obtained directly from the RDA offices.
