SHC Seeks Comments on Heavy Traffic Ban in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered authorities to submit statements on the implementation of a Supreme Court order banning heavy traffic in Karachi during the day.

According to sources, a two-judge bench set a deadline of March 15 for comments about vehicles carrying essential commodities to clarify the order’s implementation.

The bench warned that it would pass an appropriate order at the next hearing and would grant no further adjournments.

Furthermore, a compliance report was also filed by the deputy inspector general of traffic police, while the National Highway Authority said it only had jurisdiction over national highways.

The attorney for the KDA also requested an adjournment so that he could contact the concerned engineering department official and provide comments in light of the commissioner’s report that had been produced by the different court orders.
