Task Force Formed to Address Water Scarcity Issues in Rawalpindi Region

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chattha, has formed a task force to tackle water scarcity issues in dams in the region.

The spokesperson announced that the task force would comprise the assistant commissioner of the affected area, the XEN of small dams, the assistant director of water management, and three local farmers.

Chattha issued the directive during a meeting held at his office to review the progress of development schemes in Rawalpindi.

The meeting was attended by Director Development Nazia Sudhan, ADC (Revenue) Nabeel Sindhu, XEN Small Dams Hamza Sheikh, and other officials.

Chattha highlighted that the government is taking steps to address the need for potable water by constructing more small and large dams in the province.

Dadocha and Mahota Dams will cater to the water needs of the domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors, he added.

The task force will brief the commissioner on the problems and issues in the district’s dams next week, following which swift action will be taken to address them.

Chattha also stated that nine dams have been built in the Rawalpindi region, including Masyar, Khasala, Java, and Japan Dams in Rawalpindi and Narali, Dangi, Falena, Oghan, and Jamal Dams in Gujar Khan Tehsil.

He revealed that the government has begun construction of the Dadocha dam on a war footing basis and will build five dams according to the annual development program in Rawalpindi.

  1. The well digging plan is required to be initiated in various different areas n localities of the city where appropriate n feasible . There are people’s in the helm of affairs must be approached for this purpose in order to curb the shortage of the same .
