T20 World Cup Teams

A total of 16 international teams will take part in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Top 8 international T20 teams have automatically qualified for the Super 12s stage of the tournament and they will be joined by four more teams from round one of the tournament.

The likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have to play the qualifiers for the Super 12s round and they will be joined by Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia and surprise packages Oman and Papua New Guinea.

Both Oman and Papua New Guinea will play round one of the T20 World Cup for the first time in their history and will have a chance to make it to the main stage of the mega event. They have to finish within the first two spots of their group in order to qualify for Super 12s.

2021 T20 World Cup teams in the Super 12s include the likes of two-time champions, West Indies, former champions, Pakistan, India and England, and four other teams including, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan.

West Indies will enter the tournament as the defending champions and also one of the favorites for the tournament. They have an exciting T20 side containing superstars such as Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and captain, Kieron Pollard.

Former champions, Pakistan are also considered as one of the favorites to lift the trophy, they are currently ranked number three in the ICC T20 team rankings and will be looking to add another World Cup win to their tally. Captain Babar Azam along with Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali makes the Men in Green a formidable T20 side.

The World number one T20 side, England will be without their star all-rounder, Ben Stokes for the tournament. Even without the services of Stokes, England look like strong favorites to reach the final of the tournament. Captain Eoin Morgan has already led them to an ODI World Cup win and they will be hoping to repeat their performances in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Johnny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone make up a strong batting unit.

India are currently the number two ranked T20 side in the world. Indian captain Virat Kohli and the selection committee will be in a dilemma to pick the strongest squad for the T20 World Cup due to a number of options available. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja will be hoping to win the T20 World Cup for their side and add to their 2007 T20 World Cup win.

Australia, South Africa and New Zealand also have exceptional T20 sides but are not considered as favorites for the tournament. This might work in their favor as they possess some of the best players in the world such as Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch, Quinton De Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill and Kyle Jamieson including various other superstars. The three teams could prove to be a surprise package in the tournament.

Finally, Afghanistan have the firepower to cause a major upset in the tournament. Despite the torrid political conditions back home, Afghanistan players are some of the best T20 players in the world. They will be led by superstar Rashid Khan and possess the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Hazratullah Zazai and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman within their ranks.

The sixteen 2021 T20 World Cup teams will battle it out over a period of one moth to be crowned as the new World Champions.
