PTA Should Block Local Porn Sites, if Not All

We know that PTA has control over the internet traffic in Pakistan, and that they can block/ allow any website in Pakistan.

Increasing trend of Local Porn websites that are adding more damage than international porn sites, due to

These websites involve local faces
Usually they consist of MMS, homemade videos and hidden cameras
Lives of Characters appearing in these websites get spoiled – what happens to our girls after their videos hit internet is very clear

I am not writing much on following

What are URLs of these websites
How much traffic share these porn websites have
How MMS and other format of Videos reach these porn websites
What damage they are doing to our social values

But my emphasis is on that PTA MUST block usage of these websites in Pakistan.

What to Do?

Ban all those porn websites that are run/operated/used by local people. It must be noted that there are many websites that are run by users in India, Bangladesh and vicinity, but their usage is high in Pakistan too, so block all these websites

One may ask me, that there are millions of websites on internet, PTA can’t block them all – Okay fine, don’t block million websites, but how about those couple of dozen websites that share 95 percent of traffic?

Given that PTA has the capabilities for blocking these websites (through ISPs) and if local porn websites are still allowed then following quote reveals some meanings to us.

“If you are not part of solution, then you are part of Problem”

Let’s hope some action on this in near future.

  Thanks for sharing the tip, actually i didn’t want to enlist or mention the list of such websites as a reference for new users. Moreover, i believe PTA has people to work on this project, and they should dig more than just the alexa.

    The internet is a free zone, I don’t think anybody should have the right to edit or ‘censor’ what people can or can not see. Being a pakistan, i’m already pissed off by the dictatorship we see in our daily lives (sms censorship by mr 10%, for instance).
    
    PTA doesn’t do jack sh1t for teh consumers when it comes to dealing with the giant bad boys that are the local telecom companies, It shouldn’t be allowed to censor what people can see or not.
    
    Anybody can decide for themeselves whats good and bad for them. If you want to protect your kids/sibs from that kinda stuff, there are loads of software/tools available to block all kinds of such websites. Just dont be a PRO-DICTATORSHIP, be a PRO-PAKISTANI if you may be. and anybody thinking about giving me the religion bulls**t, please dont…. not gonna work.

V. Rite…they must block all these websites..and they can do yaar…its not a rocket science….as u said…

go to alexa , and check the rank of Pornic websites visited from Pakistan , sharing our own country girls MMS / other video clips…So pathetic and disgusting for every Pakistani…

i think as a Islamic Republic of Pakistan , PTA can launch proper system to cater these “White Collar crimes” rather i must “White Collar Terrorists” who are playing with lives of your country Women… So sad!!!

Where does Patriaticism goes in such cases and attention goes? i dont know..why dont they bother to block such sites on consistent basis…

i think they must develop a law against such cases and people must come forward to launch complaints against these so called white collar terrorists.. So they get handle properly by law and enforcement agenices…whether it might comes under new cyber crime Act in context of Privacy and bla bla…

Suggestions to launch:

1. Launch Group on facebook to support those who have been affected by it…or getting blackmail so far…

if any one of you have seen Dev D.

i am qouting one dialogue from that movie when a girl asked to her father about her MMS …that how did you know about my MMS … Obviously You gone to those websites for checking others MMS and you got your own one…

2. There must be some proper precautions guides for girls especially , like how a movie can be develop via cell phones and bla bla…

3. What about web cams…pls also spread word about Web Cams misuses and lot of people are affecting by it….

What about the shops situated in every Mobile Sell Purchase Plaza for installing Such video clips on phones and Pix of girls of Pakistan…

FIA must also take notice of such shops …as they exist in every plaza….in simple language for loading “Totay” in your mobile…

i think this issue is more serious than 789 , SMS / Email Illegal Spamming ..

As this is getting growth day by day….so dont give any one chance to get strong and become an industry in Pakistan as well to share such stuff and spread such stuff….

People in comsats institute of information technology ABBOTTABAD have implemented this porn blocking this. Its very difficult to access pornography from their network. And it suprizingly efficient. Contact them for consultancy/more information.

      Very unfortunately PTA and FIA are busy in finding the MUJRIMS of sending SMS and MMS against the Govt. Very High Officials, they dont have much time for such activities.
      
      We recently blocked a list of sites from Baluchistan I think more than 40 web sites, having matters against Punjabies or govt officials. It takes only a few minutes to block.
      
      If anyone here can provide a list we will be more than happy to block (but the list must come from PTA :D ).

I dont think there is any efficient way to block pornography unless all the servers which host such sites are taken down and you cannot do this. Most of such sites run on the servers situated in a country which provides legal protection to porn. A person can easily browse such sites using any proxy software. It is just the fear of Allah which can stop one to watch porn.

  Per if we see like that, then nothing has solution in this world. we need to initialize some proper steps to bring its use to minimum and minimum.
  
  Let me give you only one example: Govt. has just started so called Cyber Crime Law implementation and you will seen in next quarter report of PTA , SMS will be having decline in usage as most of the SMS traffic is based on those sort of SMS.
  
  So , now everyone think twice before sending such SMS.
  
  Here is only we lacking in Proper Law for such websites. Pornic Sites , spreading such information on websites must be stopped with simple techniques that can be any means and believe me no such cost is involved.
  
  if they really want to do it , it will only take 1 day to complete the whole process and major sites will get blocked in Pakistan.

    You are right…It can be minimized and must be…no way to block porn completely. Strict clauses in Cyber Crime Law can minimize it but yet for a computer geek who knows a little bit how to bypass proxy of your local ISP can explore them, for him there is fear of Allah only which can make him stop.
    One more thing which i will like to highlight. This is not only hardcore porn which should be banned, but also the contemporary stage dramas which are even approved by our censor board and a form of softcore porn. They are never less than porno. Very obscene and disgusting these stage dramas are and must be taken against strict action as against porn sites. What kind of hypocricy is that we allow one kind of porn (in form of stage dramas) and forbid the other!!!

Do you know , i raised almost “same” issue in front of “DIRECTORS” of PTA that there is a minority in pakistan called “qadiyanis” .They are said to be Non Muslims by all Muslim Ummah and in pak law too and they are not allowed to preach in Pakistan in anyway. they can’t even say their “places to worship as Mosque” …

I just brought their attention that they are using their official website against pakistan and Islam and i gave them proof from tht site too.
but answer from them was “Qadiyanis are pakistani citizens so we can’t block their site” and i was shocked . When i am saying to cancel their “citizenship” ?
I was just trying to show them the hateful stuff on tht site and its affect on innocent pakistanis whom i met personally.
Khair coming back to topic , This case is also same like that . and let me tell you , before ptcl broadband was launched few very criticial SITES were blocked in pakistan , but now they ALL ARE OPEN on all ISPs…and i am sure PTA will say again “they are citizens of pakistan what can we do” ?

  Pls , if you have seen some of pix that have been developed by girls and spread.. Then there could be possibility that they send such Pix via MMS to thier Boyfriends and then they publish it on websites… or DATA infringements ….This could be case…like in many cases Girls are not aware of troubleshooting with PC’s and in result their PC’s goes to market for tuneup , at that time DATA can also be copied and spreaded…

As per my knowledge every 9 websites out of 10 are porn. And these sites are increasing day by day. PTA ban the youtube couple of times , so i think it’s not difficult for them to block such sites. But problems is that there are lot more stuff is available in different bazar even in karachi , like rainbow center , Uni-tower etc where they are selling it on Rayrhi , foot path to infect the youth, and you know there are cartoons which our youth is seeing has some level of porn. And you know the Govt is blind or permitting them , not noticing. Actually i think for this as well you have to pass the bill in assembly. Law sab mojood hayn, koi mai ka laal execute nahi karta darta hay kay mar jae ga ya maar dia jae ga.

Proxies can be used but only 0.00001 know that. I don’t know much about using proxies but i think main server of internet of pakistan is under control of pta and if anything is blocked from main server then i don’t think anyone can access that

I agree, PTA should implement the policy to block all the pron sites (including local). I am currently in UAE and here they are blocking almost all the sites. And its an ongoing process. you have to add new comming sites in block list. PTA can ask PTCL to adopt Etisalats proxy policy to block these sites.

PTA shold not only block porn site and also the anti Islamic sites. UAE is blocking anti Islamic sites as well.

As far as I know PTCL is managing the PIEs (Pakistan Internet Exchanges) so its very easy to implement the policy in those PIEs.

100% agreed. It was my long wish to do so but couldn’t get some forum to speak on. Actually PTA can get all the list of these kind of sites. The easiest way is to establish a help line and publicise it, the only reason for that help line would b to allow people to complain about such website.
Moreover, for FIA instead of cracking on people who send sms against PPP they should be cracking on people who are running these kind of sites.

I am against any type of blocking. And if any one thinks that it works, they are mistaken. PTA will block a website, people will find other ways to access that website, or will make new websites. It is just vicious circle of activities which are not at all fruitful.

We should concentrate our energies at educating people.

And as for girls whose Pictures / MMS are being circulated, do you think they are angels ? They were involved in an illicit relationship, and that is why they are now in trouble.

I humbly request everyone to stop guiding PTA to block this and block that, because all PTA has ever done is block progress.

Why target the internet only. Why not the local video shops which are a bigger source of this material (only 8 million internet users vs. CD players), what about the local ‘bad women’ who get protection from the local police and ministers who frequent them, why not the dancing girls who feed the wishes of the local chuadries, sardars and saeeins… why create precedents for which we all will pay in our lives later like the people in China or Saudia do.

Let the decision to watch or not watch be in the hands of the people otherwise the black market industry will provide it anyways and at a higher cost. Than it will become a real industry unlike something being watched for free right now.

Think of the spirits and the wine industry. Supposedly they’re banned in our nation, but hey! the blackmarket very happily provides for that and at a very high rate. That’s what will happen to porn too.

Not only SMS & this One web.

The Big problem is web sites like ORKUT, Face book, Tagged & many like these. Who giving opportunities to our young Fresh blood male & females to get inn a Cancer in the Society.

Also Hourly Fix 2 Rupees or 5 Rupees calls. Bundle SMS are making our life terrible. Father Mother don’t know that their children’s talking to strangers at Mid night where a Job doing person sleeping. Also it making problems for Studies of Young age. Once upon a time the Incoming/Out going call was expensive & SMS was also & this was only for Emergency & Business purposes. Now you can find mobile phone with baggers also.

The Technology never mind. But we dont have any Cyber Law. We dont even have a Proper Minister who know the Telecom & IT.

PTA now days is in own battle of money, cases etc. PTA should warn all cellular operators to stop bundling packages of sms & voice. Shut illegal sim as per Govt instructions. Not issue any SIM out of record/under the table.

I know still many SIM’s are being used for Grey illegal VoIP Termination.

GOVT Needs to take action. Stop making our Home Land like Thailand. Lets Join Hands & at least make a Big VOICE to our sleeping leaders & Policy makers.

Other wise the same fire can catch us any time & fire not know who is at burning end!!!!
