Members Board of Directors, Warid Telecom and Wateen Telecom and the key players of Dhabi Group, Mr. Bashir Tahir and Pervez Shahid have reportedly resigned from their positions, reported ‘The News’ and we have confirmed with multiple sources as well.
Paper said that the resignation from both the brothers came due to personal reasons.
Mr. Bashir A Tahir happened to be the CEO of the Abu Dhabi Group, and a Member of the Board Advisory Committee and Board Audit Committee for Bank Alfalah Limited.
Mr. Tahir was honored with one of Pakistan’s highest civilian awards, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2005 in recognition of his role in various facets of banking, financial advisory and investments in Pakistan.
On other side, Mr. Pervez Shahid was the top person for Warid, Wateen and Bank Alfalah in Pakistan. Officially he was executive in-charge of strategic planning division, Bank Alfalah and authorized power of attorney holder for Warid Telecom.
Both of the brothers were running all the Dhabi Group’s business activities in Pakistan, which includes: Wateen, Warid, Bank Al Falah, UBL, Raseen Telecom, Razi Health Care, a Sugar Mill, a construction company and more.
Both the resignations came after Tariq Malik’s departure from Wateen, who happens to be a close ally of Mr. Bashir and Mr. Pervez.
We know that Mr. Zouhair Khaliq is flying to Pakistan to look into matter. CEO Bank Al Falah and Warid are already in Dubai to discuss future strategy and policies. It is expected that Mr. Zouhair Khaliq will become the top guy from the group in Pakistan.
Update: Sirajuddin Aziz, CEO Bank Al Falah has said that Sheikh Nahayan has asked Mr. Bashir Tahir to advise him on various matters. Mr. Bashir Tahir will also take care of one of Dhabi Group’s unit in Pakistan.

Great men, even during their life time, are usually known to the public through a fictitious personality; hence, the modicum of truth in the old saying that no man is a hero to his valet. Bashir Tahir and his wife are worse than the anti-christ himself to those that served them.
Both individuals have played a very important role in enhancing the banking and telecom sector of Pakistan and not to forget over a Bilion Dollars direct foriegn investment. Good luck to both of them for future.

as for this change, i see the vision and the efforts of both the board directors being carried forward with extremely amazing people such as Zouhair Khaliq. let us see how this will bring new growth and energy in the group… because i see it happening.

This was a really shocking news indeed, both brothers fully committed themselves to uplift the country’s economic scenario in nearly every industry and this is evident from the award Mr. Bashir A Tahir was given by Pervez Musharraf. But as we age, I guess we all look forward to enjoying the retirement stage of our lives and i think that’s the case with Mr. Tahir and Mr. Shahid. I wish them good luck for their future endeavors and get ready to welcome the new vision and leadership.
I have an outstanding of Rs. 1.732 million to the (Mr. Naeem Amin) nephew of Mr.Pervaiz sahab & tahir Sb, but since two years continuously, Mr. Naeem is giving me lip services without paying any penny, even I had raised this issue to Wateen Telecom at higher level in March 2011 but no one is helping me. I request through this mail to both brothers Mr. Tahir & Pervaiz Sb to intervene this matter and ask to naeem amin why he doesn’t pay my labor liability against labor work executed in Nara Chundko Sindh for laying of USF Optical Fiber deployment. It has been one year since both brother Bashir Tahir and Parvez Shahid resigned from Abu dhabi group.
Facts: in one year, Warid still is in loss, and the average sales per day they achieved, in NOW achieved once a week. HAHA!
In one year Wateen sales per day are now HALF of what they used to be in Dec 2010.
In one year Al Razi Healthcare sales are LOWER than what they were in January 2011.
In one year Bank Alf Falah opened few more branches to have 400 total branches, please tell me how did they reach that number? 390 were achieved by them during their tenure of 13 years of hard work.
Abu Dhabi Grouop is on a drip….money is pouring in, and they are making no money. Wateen was planned burnt.
The brothers are legend, and Abu Dhabi Group will eventually shit down operations in Pakistan within next 1-3 years.
