It is likely that you are aware of this PTCL DSL package with speed of 256 Kbps, which was introduced earlier this year at a monthly cost of mere Rs. 299. However, it was capped at 1 GB download limit per month before Ramadan.
During Ramadan, under a special offer, PTCL offered this package at same price of Rs. 299 but with unlimited downloads till September 30th.
But it seems that PTCL has extended the offer as this 256 Kbps DSL package will remain unlimited till December 31st, 2011. While the price would remain the same, i.e. Rs. 299 per month.
So if you are a casual internet user with tiny needs, i.e. just checking emails and browsing few news websites, here’s the best deal to get from PTCL.
PTCL says that anyone (with higher DSL speeds) can downgrade to this package with one time additional charges of Rs. 1500.
Here’s the tariff once again:
- Speed: 256Kbps
- Monthly Charges: Rs 299
- Monthly Limit: Unlimited till December 31st, 2011
- There’s no student discount with this package
It’s good for low end users. PTCL is losing it’s dsl users base very fast.

Truly , not only this package but almost all PTCL packages are good only for browsing websites . No Quality of service – those interested in getting a dsl or any other connection should try any other alternative !

I don’t think PTCL DSL packages are that bad:-( and the speed is also not that low as you mentioned…
But the only thing which is very bad (in my view)… and it’s their creepy customer support, which is neither professional nor customer friendly. specially 1218 operators take ages to receive you call and to solve your problem, and they try to bypass you on many occasions and never give you a quick relief….
I once had a problem (my port @ exchange was dislocated as I knew it later)…So I first tried 1218 auto option then operator for at-least one week, but it only gave me more frustration… every time when I talked to the operator (waiting more then 30min for every response) the answer was…. Sir aap ki problem forward kardi gai hai, aur within 24hours yeh solve hojayegi…
But my problem was never resolved (liars), and they never told me the exact cause and its possible solution:(
So in the end, I had to visit my exchange personally and finally solved it.
Apart from this, honestly I’m very satisfied with the speed and package price (I’m on 2mb package and constantly getting 220+KBs, but yes the ping is bit high, which is another problem:-( )
Mani sb! All above are correct but you finally visited the exchange and solved the problem, This is the most aching behavior of customer support, not to go ahead against the complaints. If every one has to visit the exchange why making fool to customers with no reply. Its burden for company and very bad (worst)reputation.
256Kbps is pretty much outdated speed these days.
