PIA Abruptly Fires Its Chief Human Resource Officer

The national flag carrier PIA has started its cleansing operation for the organization, It took the first step towards this initiative by terminating the service agreement of its Chief Human Resource Officer Raheel Ahmed. Other 4 high level officers will be forced to retire soon in this regard as well, according to informed sources.

ProPakistani has obtained a copy of the letter which led to the termination of the Human Resources Chief in PIA. The letter, which was issued with the signature of the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Musharraf Rasool Cyan, informed the concerned officer that his services were no longer needed.

The 3 line letter has been addressed to Chief of Human Resource Raheel Ahmed informing him about the termination of his contract with the national air carrier.

“Further to approval of the competent authority, your contract of service, effective from Aug 15, 2016, (the Contract) is hereby terminated with immediate affect under the clause 12 of the contract and a cross cheque attached on account of salary of three months in lieu of notice is attached herewith.” the letter said.

About Raheel Ahmed

Raheel Ahmed is a retired wing commander from PAF. After his retirement from PAF, he joined Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), International Steels Limited as their Head of Human Resources.

In 2014, he joined PIA as a Senior General Manager for Human Resources. It was only in August 2016 that he was given the charge of Chief of Human Resources there.

Sources say that after Raheel Ahmed, 4 other officers who rank as General Managers were also asked to retire earlier as well.

It is said that the PIA management decided to take this step after the National Assembly Standing Committee ordered to remove people in the national air carrier who were not working according to the desired level.

A member of PIA management told ProPakistani that new management has been fully authorized to restructure the airline and bring in a new professional team. After this high-profile fire, sources say that high level as well as middle management will be the next target of this initiative, down to the laborer level in the future.
