Two Illegal Gateway Exchanges Seized in Islamabad

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) launched a crack down against illegal gateway exchange operator in Islamabad and busted two illegal gateway exchanges in the areas of F-10 Markaz and F-11/4, Islamabad and confiscated other accessories whereas one person was arrested from the scene. This raid was conducted based on the information obtained through PTA’s facility which detects illegal telecom traffic.

It may be noted that PTA has launched a campaign against grey traffickers and established a team of highly technical professionals and dedicated workers to check their activities. The team monitors the illegal activities on twenty four hours basis and adopts different procedures and processes to apprehend the culprits and to prevent losses to the national exchequer through illegal telecom business.

Chairman PTA, Dr. Mohammed Yaseen appreciated the joint efforts of PTA and FIA teams and warned all those involved in the illegal telecom business to stop their activities otherwise PTA shall take strict action against them as per the law.

  • Very well said Shahzad,
In India termination charges are zero now, and thereofore Indian calls free or even at 0.009 Euro cent /min, while we pay atleast 3Euro cent a minut to 20 Euro cent a minute.

Ofcourse calling using those voip providers doesn’t pay anything to Govt of Pakistan and 99% Pakistanis in any country use Internet VoIP providers. If PTA lowers termination charges then these providers will be compelled to use legal termination routes and not grey telephoney routes and money will go in pockets of Govt. of Pakistan.
