Mobilink Foundation has initiated relief operations in Tharparker as a means of providing support to the affectees of famine in the region. Mobilink Foundation will provide more than 8,000 affectees with food supplies which will be transported to Tharparker by Pakistan Navy.
Commenting on the relief operation, Omar Manzur Head of Corporate Communication said, “As a responsible corporate citizen it is our duty to support the affectees. Mobilink Torchbearers have taken the first step to reach out to our fellow Pakistanis and we hope that other will follow suit to extend maximum support to them in this hour of need.”
In the first phase of the relief operation, Mobilink Foundation will transport food packages which include water and basic edibles for daily consumption of famine affectees. Mobilink Torchbearers have also established collection centers in Mobilink offices in Sindh to collect donations, clothes and other supplies to support the families in Tharparker. These supplies and donations will be sent to the affected region in the second phase of relief operations.
The relief efforts are reflective of Mobilink’s continued commitment over the years to be the first to reach out to affectees of natural disasters in Pakistan. In the past, Mobilink Torchbearers have provided monetary as well as relief work assistance to victims of the earthquake in 2005 and the floods in 2010. In 2013, Mobilink Torchbearers were the only employees of a cellular company to personally take food and basic supplies to victims of the Awaran Earthquake.
