Pakistan is sixth largest country on the planet with more than 180 million people. However even with such huge number of heads the country’s startup record is pretty much below profile compared to the rest of the world.

But this is changing.

In just last couple of years, a revolution of young entrepreneurs and startups have played a notable role in shaping up the scenario which in turn has turned many heads internationally.

iKnowl — based out of Karachi — is one of those companies that are playing an active part in this run.

Last year they introduced an application to the market called – Artsly – which according to the reports, raised $175,000 from Europe-based investor Kima Ventures. It made iKnowl the first ever start up from Pakistan which holds the achievement of backing from an international VC.

A brother duo – Muhammad Huzaifa and Muhammed Jahanzaib are the proud founders of this amazing app that gives you a YouTube like experience.

You can discover, learn, share and practice your creativity via this app. Many instructors are associated with the app who can guide you about anything and everything related to art, be it music, food, painting or photography.

The CEO of Artsly, Huzaifa explains about his app as following:

An artist would upload his paid or free videos lessons on Artsly in any art related category and his lessons would be available to Artsly users.

With Artsly we want to build a community of artists and learners who deeply care about learning new artistic skills, and of course key to its success would be high quality video lessons.

He added, that as compared to their competitors who usually target male audiences, their product primarily focuses on women because “they are most active on YouTube and other content channels”

The question is, what makes this app a female attention seeker? Well, with categories labelled as photography, painting, dancing, music, makeup and food decoration who wouldn’t be interested in doing constructive things with this app. It can teach you Makeup Lessons, Baking Lessons, Gardening Lessons, Painting Lessons etc. And the best thing is, it has a big directory of video lessons related to every mentioned category.

Artsly already has more than 1,400 different instructors signed up to provide video content and the number will increase as the application has been launched, for sure.

Content makers will also enjoy the advantage of increased revenues as compared to advertisement revenue they used to get through YouTube. As per news, the web version will allow them to sell their tutorials, lessons and work directly with users at a fixed price.

With Artsly you can:

  • Get to learn alot of free lessons and creative skills.
  • Create a library of your favorite lessons. Just like creating a playlist of your favorite songs.
  • Interact with instructors and artists. The hallmark. ;)
  • Watch video lessons from different instructors around the world.

The only thing that might upset the audience or can be counted as a deal breaker is, this app is only available for iDevices, more specifically for iPhones and iPads. So you have to have an igadget to use Artsly!

The scoop or spark of this app is, it is originated in Pakistan but has a global audience and international co-operation.
