Orient Announced Play Hub For Its Smart TVs In Pakistan

In recent years, Orient has emerged as one of the most important home appliance manufacturers in Pakistan. Last Wednesday, they unveiled their latest innovation. Orient Smart LEDs are now equipped with Orient Play Hub; the first of its kind in Pakistan.

Orient’s Smart LED TV is Pakistan’s first quad core powered TV with Android technology. Orient Play Hub gives you a one screen solution to all your entertainment needs. The freedom of accessing TV shows, program schedules, channel previews and various apps at the click of a button.

It has a TV Guide feature that allows the user to check status of various shows on multiple channels simultaneously so they can select a program based on how much it has been played. Besides this it also gives details of the programs and movies like its cast and box office ratings so you can choose the most popular programs or watch movies of your favorite actors and actresses.

The Now Playing pane shows program preview at a glance. Its Picture in Picture allows you to browse through the list without having to switch channels. The Live Streaming option gives uninterrupted entertainment. It lets you access various channels and programs via the internet that are either not available through your regular cable operator or if the cable service is experiencing technical difficulties. If you want to watch a particular program that is not on the list, all you have to do is access it through the Video on Demand feature.

Its Breaking News Notification feature keeps you up-to-date on current national and international news through selected TV channels powered by Orient Play. Program/Movie Info feature gives detailed information about the programs or movie being aired on different channels which helps you to make an informed choice from the list of channels available.

Orient Play Remote also turns your mobile phone into a remote control which means no more looking for the TV remote under the cushion or behind the sofa; carry it around in your pocket. The Auto Update function is powered by OrientPLAY.tv website; keeping the system updated.

Every time you are connected to the wifi, OrientPLAY Hub automatically updates the system in the background without you having to do it manually. The addition of these new features should give Orient an advantage when it comes to Smart TVs in the local market.

  • Price matters most, these days nice android tv box avaialble in around 6000 – 12000, including webcam

    • I would prefer external box to builtin TV. If you read about all the security problems with Smart TVs…. well you will never ever want to buy one. For example, LG Smart TVs report what you watch to their HQ… etc…

      • every mobile, every smart object which has data connection and computing capability can gather user data / activity while they calling it customer experience improvement program, so you can never avoid from being watched by manufacturers

            • old Nokia didn’t do it. In fact Old Nokia is still around. They are the ones that built new tablet.

              • Lack of computational functionality, lack of browsing capabilities & very low system specs has made Nokia Symbian to
disappeared from market, as i said any hardware having computational capabilities can keep track of our activity whereas symbian phones from nokia and other manufacturers were not powerful enough to run so many heavy tasks on background

                • Wrong
                  wrong wrong wrong.

Man, do you know nothing about what old Nokia sells/sold? They sold firewalls based on FreeBSD OS. They sold LOTS of networking equipment that was ===NOT=== 3310.

                • Which statement? The statement I wrote above where I used the example of LG as a company that IS NOT RESPONSIBLE COMPANY???

Man, learn to read before you type.

                  • just to tell you all, you all are being watched and listened by secret agencies. they are so much advanced that even you talk in english/ urdu/ pushtu. they can analyze you: translate.google.com

      • have you read my comment?? what non acceptable language was there ???
off-course you cant handle the truth, because i just bought the thing and told about it.
on second thought, lets test you, ill write exact same thing “professionaly”

  • orient smart tv is not worth the money or use, i bought the tv myself 4 days ago and returned it second day. Ill give you some details of why i switched from it.

    Pro’s
~ very good picture quality, and i mean it (said same thing last time)
~ very very fast support from lahore over phone (unfortunatly they didnt have much info at that time) details later.

    neg’s
~ android tv, well it made the overall experience of the tv slow, you cant do anything unless complete system boots up.
~ navigation is a mess and you get small window of channel everytime you move around and going full screen is not one button option.
~ the smart functions, you get weather on screen, you get a browser, you get playstore (very limited functionality).
~ you cant install/update the play services so you cant install many newer apps, i sideloaded youtube and it required play services so cant run it.
~ the android tv version of youtube just didnt work. (i have a vpn router so no issues here for blocked stuff)
~ dlna didnt worked (detail later)
~ typing anything using remote is well next to impossible, and the onscreen keyboard is also a next to impossible to use with this remote navigation, you paused a little and you are no more able to type and than you cant go back, you have to start from scratch.
~ skype worked my logitech pro 4000 camera didnt get installed, its an old device so maybe some newer ones might work
~ pluging the keyboard is easy, using is not, you get onscreen keyboard with it and same issues you pause and you have to start again.
~ youtube works on browser but first time you wont get sound, you have to start again. than there is youtube ad’s it dont get auto skipped, so you have to again use the annoying remote navigation and try to click stuff to start video, in 2 3 tries your video will play, its like ad’s 2 3 times and than the video. video by default plays full screen.
~ browser works 60% of the time than it gets crashes, hangups and to solve it, turn the tv off.
~ tv guide is of no use and just pretty face, you press one thing it shows other. (anyone with knowledge and brain knows why. we dont have same channels everywhere :))

    final thoughts:
get chromecast and do all this with much ease and speed.

    update:
i called support and asked whats so smart here, his answer
    you have weather
    you have skype
    you have twitter / facebook
i asked cant do dlna/ watch my phones pictures/videos, he said ill call you tomorrow.
he did call me back, surprising very fast and polite support, he said i have asked my tech staff and told me some app that i can download and than i can see my pictures. (didnt had my tv by that time, i have replaced it)

so save your money and if orient 50″ non smart tv is same hardware, without android parts, i will say go get it for very good picture quality, and thats what tv is for.

    • I have used this same TV, and I have read your comment now. I see most of these negatives are coming out of frustration.

Let me reply to all your negatives
      1) Almost all android based systems are slow as compared to IOS
      2) You can enlarge the screen by clicking on to it, I have attached external wireless mouse, it works great.
3)There are very limited apps available in play store for large screens
      4) Same as above
      5) never tried playing youtube app, used via browser
      6) not tried dlna
      7) My guess is that you are not technical enough to know that keyboard issue which you are telling comes under Android User experience.
      8) skype is working great, though my webcam quality is not great :(
      9) Android User experience
      10) Are you serious? how do you auto skip an add on your system? just curious
      11) I agree with this, but we do have most of the channels

I think its a nice effort, that we have something of our own in Pakistan now. Getting tired of using US based or Europe based apps, Just wondering when will we have something in Pakistan like Netflix etc

  • Great Work .. :) Pakistanis
In Future things will be get better .. Its Just a start so can be a bad experience but The User feeling inconvenience will feel no more frustration as the latest updates are free of bugs and its almost in market. so we should be calm :) .
