Punjab has introduced a Juvenile Permit Facility for young applicants aged between 16 and 18 years, allowing them to ride motorcycles under specific conditions and safety limits.
The facility is aimed at bringing young riders into a regulated system instead of allowing underage riding without any official permission. Applicants who meet the requirements can visit their nearest Driving Licence Centre along with a parent or legal guardian to apply for the permit.
Under the facility, youth aged 16 to 18 years will be allowed to ride motorcycles up to 125cc only. Permit holders will also not be allowed to ride at speeds exceeding 60 km/h. Compliance with traffic laws and safe riding practices will be mandatory.
Fee Structure
The permit fee depends on the age of the applicant.
| Applicant Age | Fee |
| 16 years | Rs. 1,000 |
| 17 to 18 years | Rs. 500 |
Juvenile Permit holders must follow the rules set for young riders. They cannot ride motorcycles above 125cc and must not exceed the speed limit of 60 km/h.
The permit is not a free pass for unsafe riding. Young riders will still be required to follow traffic signals, wear helmets, avoid rash driving, and comply with all traffic laws.
