New Xbox One Comes with 1TB Storage and Updated Controller

Given the ever-increasing game file sizes, it is only natural that the need for larger storage options is felt more than ever. Hence, it is not surprising in the least to watch Microsoft finally release the long-rumoured 1 TB storage option for its next-gen console, the Xbox One.

Considering the fact that every Xbox One title requires a mandatory hard-drive install, this was a long time coming. With games such as the GTA V and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare requiring almost 50 GB storage, the 1 TB option may soon become the most-popular one on the block. It also gives Microsoft a lead over Sony and Nintendo, neither of whom offer this storage option.

But there’s more to it too. A new and updated controller will be a part of the package too.

The new Xbox One controller comes with a built-in 3.5 mm headphone jack, with options to adjust volume, mic monitoring and audio balance through the controller settings. Hardware-wise, Redmond has brought improvements to the bumpers. Finally, it gains the ability to wirelessly receive firmware updates, rather than requiring a USB connection like before.

As for the price, this new Xbox One will cost $399, the same as the PlayStation 4 which comes with half the storage. The new controller will hit the markets soon, too, costing $59.99. A newly announced wireless adapter for Windows will cost $24.99 standalone, or $79.95 with the controller.

  • Unless you are ready to spend hundreds of dollars (ten thousands of rupees) just for gaming, i’d say you’re better off buying a laptop or making a custom pc tailored specifically for gaming. As it can be used for other things as well.

  • For those who are hardcore gamers on consoles , they will never move to pc. Because there is no need to upgrade graphic card , ram etc for new titles each year. And secondly , all the games are optimized for these consoles , which is a big plus !

    • One, console gaming automatically disqualifies you from being a hardcore gamer. Secondly, there is no need to upgrade your gaming rig every year. Even a midrange graphics card from three year ago is more powerful than any current console GPU, which becomes dead on arrival. Not to mention, RAM these days is dirt cheap. I already have 16GB of RAM in my system which I last upgraded five years ago, and there’s not a single game to date that can max out even half that amount. Third, when you say “optimized”, you mean reduced textures, lowered resolution and locked framerates to make the game halfway playable on these underpowered machines. It’s 2015 and most console games run at only 720p and 30fps, whereas I was running games at 2k resolution and unlimited fps in 2000 on my PC.

      • I will disagree with you to some extent. Yes , you can run games on 2k resolution this year and may be next year. But , you need to upgrade your graphic card after 18 to 24 months to play games on high graphics. As far as 720p on consoles is concerned, ps4 is 1080p and it will continue to run all games at 1080p with any further investment.

And i will also disagree with you on hardcore gamer disqualification. Check the stats on google, how many hardcore gamers play on PC and how many play on consoles. All MAJOR championships which are held in USA , ASIA and EUROPE are based on consoles.

Third point is the value for money. For console , you need to spend maximum of 500 usd ( make it 700 USD in case of professional controller and headphones ) and it will last for at least 4 to 5 years. But for PC , you have to spend at least 1000 USD for a good gaming rig and you will have to upgrade your components after 2 years.

        • Wow. No wonder you’re so clueless being a console gamer. First of all, no, a lot of games, including AA titles like Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline, Watchdogs, Wolfstein: The New Order, and the recently released Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are not capable of running at 1080p on either the PS4 or Xbox One. This is truly pathetic in 2015. It has been almost 10 years since our TVs have been capable of 1080p playback, and yet consoles still haven’t caught up to last generation’s standard. Now with UHD TVs popping up in the market, you’ll have to wait a good 20-30 years until you can put those extra pixels on your 8k TV to good use. But by then, PC gamers will probably be gaming at 32k resolutions. Oh and no, the notion that you need to upgrade your PC every year or two to enjoy the latest game is a myth. I last upgraded my PC 5 years ago and I can run every single game released to date. At 1080p or more no less.

Secondly, *bangs head on wall* nooo! Except for Major League Gaming, hardly any professional gaming tournaments involving consoles gaming. In fact, most of the games played at these tournaments, or streamed on Twitch, are PC exclusive: Dota 2, League of Legends, WarCraft III, StarCraft II etc.

And I don’t think I even need to point out how wrong you are in that last paragraph. Let’s just say that if you give me $500, I’ll build you a gaming rig that will beat your consoles in every graphics benchmark to date. And still beat them five years later. I suggest you look up Steam machines. If only they ran Windows instead of Linux, they would be the death knell for console gaming once and for all.

            • You’re welcome? Sorry but I just can’t stand posers on the internet who pretend to know what they are talking about when they don’t have the slightest clue.

              • Slightest clue ?? lol . Thats why i said God bless you because you have no clue what you are talking about. When we are comparing consoles with pc , then we are comparing the same games and their respective championships. A guy who doesnt even know that Dota is not played on consoles , he is certainly comparing apples with oranges due to his emotional attachment with his rig. I wish you good luck in playing GTA5 at maximum resolution on YOUR 5 YEAR OLD PC .

These type of people are found commonly in our country which due to their emotional attachment , will defend what ever they thing is right at every cost. It is useless to discuss with these kind of people , as it is a wastage of time. By definition , these type of people are called MORONS.

Have fun with your 5 year old pc playing gta5 at full resolution buddy !

                lol

                • Haha, someone is butthurt. Apparently you lack even basic english comprehension. And you’re still pretending. You seem awfully obsessed with playing GTA V at “full resolution”, whatever that means Mr. hardcore console gamer LMAO. You also have some sort of inferiority complex about your nationality… I can go on but I guess that’s enough for today. Don’t dig yourself into a hole any further.

  • Xbox One’s controller is best .. even better than PS4’s dual shock. . . .although Ps4’s hardware is a tad bit superior but still Xbox is good console overall

    • Both have their advantage. I moved from xbox 360 to ps4. And the 1080p graphic on ps4 are way superior then xbox one.

      • Is there a way to use keyboard and mouse on PS4 or Xbox 360? Playing a game with the controller seems disgusting!!!

      • Is it possible to play a game on PS4 which is downloaded on the internet ? Or I have to buy original games?

  • After being a long time pc gamer. Now I am going on console. Because spending too much money on pc for games that are now mostly optimized for consoles is meaningless until you use your pc for productively purposes.

Almost all AAA titles are mades on console devkits by developers and then ported to pc.

So spending too much money on gaming pc is in my concern is useless.

And finally console gaming community is way too big in the whole world. More players in online multiplayer than pc.
