Samsung Reveals the Galaxy J1 2016 in Dubai

Samsung’s entry level J1 was expected to get announced for the past few weeks and even got featured in some leaks. But in the end, Samsung decided to make this a silent release and hush all those leaks and news coverage. The phone was released sans a launch event in Dubai where it is already available for sale.

The New Samsung Galaxy J1 2016

The 2016 revision of the entry level Samsung Galaxy J1 comes with some improvements but also makes compromises in the hardware department to keep the price down. The smartphone sees an increase in the screen size to 4.5-inches, up from 4.3 inches, though the resolution remains the same at 800×480. The pixel density might have been reduced but the phone uses a Super AMOLED display which should make up for it, thanks to better contrast and saturated colors.

Just like the rest of the Galaxy J series, J1 comes with a plastic body and plain plastic back cover. The phone’s design remains more or less the same except for the front glass which no longer covers the complete face of the phone.

Under the hood is a Samsung Exynos 3475 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. In comparison, the RAM on the J1 2015, J1 Ace and J1 4G was just 512MB or 768MB depending on the model. The internal storage has also been doubled to 8GB. The camera department features the same 5MP rear and 2MP front camera combo. The unit is powered by a 2,050 mAh battery, once again an improvement over the 2015 version which came with a 1,850 mAH unit.
