LG G5 May Be The Most Innovative Android Smartphone Yet

After months of gossips and leaks, LG has finally revealed the G5 at the MWC 2016. Anything you know or have known about previous LG flagships is now gone. It’s a new and refreshed design, unlike any previous LG flagship smartphone.

Similar to what we saw with the Samsung Galaxy S6 last year, LG has gambled with everything it was known for to make a comeback in the smartphone market.

The first thing that catches your eyes is the new design language. LG G5 the first all metal flagship from the company. Before you start worrying that G5 won’t have removable battery or a microSD card slot, let us tell you, these are still there. The company has developed a new innovative feature called the Magic Slot which will let users easily replace the battery.

The Magic Slot gives access to bunch of other add-on modules as well. The company made good use of the new feature and the slot can be interchanged with any LG or third party module. The modules available at launch will be a camera grip, which comes with a 1,200 mAh battery and complete physical camera controls, and a Hi-Fi sound decoder for the audiophiles, which comes with a 32-bit DAC audio controller.

When looking at the design, it is definitely a step forward (excluding the missing rear buttons). The front of the phone has an all-round 2.5D screen which blends in with the curved metal back. The rear of the phone features a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint sensor which also doubles as the power button.

Specs-wise, the LG G5 comes with a 5.3-inch 2K Q-Dot IPS display panel which has an Always-on Mode (the screen remains on for notifications and clock). There’s a Snapdragon 820 powering the device coupled with 4 Gigs of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. The removable battery comes in at 2,800 mAh by default.

As far as the camera setup is concerned, the G5 carries over every feature that the G4 had like the Laser Auto Focus, Advanced OIS and the Color Spectrum sensor. There is a 16MP camera which has a field of view of 75 degrees and the supporting camera has a resolution of 8MP and a field of view of 135 degrees. When joined together, it makes for some nice effects and far superior photography experience.
