Huawei has announced the FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition and the MatePad Air 2026 at its launch event.
Both devices are closer to refreshes than complete generational upgrades. The FreeClip 2 S focuses on updated AI audio features and new styling options, while the MatePad Air 2026 brings a major display change with an OLED PaperMatte screen.
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S continues with the company’s open-ear clip design.
The earbuds still use a C-bridge structure and a 10.8mm dual-diaphragm driver. Huawei’s official FreeClip 2 page lists 5.1g weight per earbud, IP57 protection for the earbuds, IP54 protection for the charging case, and Bluetooth 6.0 support.
The FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition is offered in Deep Sea Blue and Pearl Silver. Huawei has also partnered with French jewellery brand Les Néréides for clip-on accessories that change the look of the earbuds. A limited-edition bundle includes a pair of these accessories.
Battery life is also unchanged at up to 9 hours of music playback on a full charge. With the charging case, total playback time reaches up to 38 hours. A 10-minute fast charge provides up to 3 hours of playback, according to Huawei.
The main software change is the updated Adaptive Volume system. The earbuds use Huawei’s NPU AI processor to adjust audio based on surrounding noise. Huawei also lists Adaptive Voice Enhancement and crystal-clear calls among the audio features.
This is more useful for open-ear earbuds because they do not seal the ear canal like traditional in-ear buds. That makes automatic volume adjustment more important in noisy environments.
The FreeClip 2 S will be available for $226 from July 14 to August 17. Its regular price is $266. The limited-edition bundle with Les Néréides clip-ons is priced at $266.
Huawei also introduced the MatePad Air 2026, which brings a more noticeable display upgrade.
The tablet now uses a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display, bringing the matte OLED screen treatment to the MatePad Air lineup. Huawei’s official specifications list a 2800 × 1840 resolution, 275 PPI, 1.07 billion colours, P3 wide colour gamut, 92% screen-to-body ratio, and up to 1200 nits of brightness.
Huawei will also sell a non-PaperMatte version for buyers who want a lower-priced option.
The tablet measures 5.3mm thick and weighs around 509g, including the battery. It is available in Sakura Pink, Airy Blue, and White.
The MatePad Air 2026 runs HarmonyOS 4.3. Huawei lists 8GB and 12GB RAM options, both with 256GB of storage. The tablet also includes a 50MP rear camera, a 12MP front camera, six speakers, two microphones, Bluetooth 5.2, NearLink support, and USB-C with USB 3.1 Gen 1 support.
Battery capacity is 10,100mAh, while charging is rated at up to 66W. Huawei includes a 66W SuperCharge charger, USB-C cable, warranty card, and Smart Magnetic Keyboard in the box, according to the official specifications.
The MatePad Air 2026 uses Huawei’s Kirin T93C chipset and supports what the company describes as pro-level AI features for productivity and creative work.
The MatePad Air 2026 starts at $967 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage non-PaperMatte variant. That version includes a keyboard.
The PaperMatte Edition costs $57 more and is bundled with either a keyboard or an M-Pencil Pro. The 12GB RAM version is priced at $1138 and comes with a keyboard.
