Alcatel, the Chinese smartphone brand from TCL corporation, has finally launched its flagship smartphones Idol 4s and Idol 4 in Pakistan.
Also known as Alcatel OneTouch, Alcatel started its journey in Pakistan 3 months ago when it launched 7 mid-range smart and feature phones through its distributor i2 Pakistan.
Unfortunately, the prices of these devices were not in line with the Pakistani handset market and the fact that Alcatel is still an unknown brand among customers in Pakistan.
Now Alcatel has appointed United Mobile as their official distributor to expand the availability of devices across Pakistan, but the prices are still on the higher side.
The price of Idol 4S is Rs. 49,500 where as it goes for $400 in other international markets. Similarly, Idol 4 is priced at Rs. 28,750 where as in International markets it goes around $200.
If Alcatel wants to survive in Pakistan, the company really needs to re-think their pricing strategy. Alcatel smartphones are good and it’s fair to say that the build quality matches that of Huawei and OPPO. However, Alcatel doesn’t enjoy the brand recognition as other Chinese smartphone makers have achieved over the years.
