If Apple thought people wouldn’t miss the 3.5mm headphone jack, they were completely wrong. As confusing as that decision might have been, a Youtuber, going by the channel name TechRax, has uploaded a video showing a DIY hack to bring back the headphone jack.
During the 1 minute, 23 second video, TechRax, instructs iPhone 7 users on how they can install a 3.5mm headphone jack themselves by drilling a small hole at the bottom of the phone. As stupid as that sounds (no offense intended to those who have already fallen for this), many “happy iPhone 7 users” have already copied the video and severely damaged their iPhones.

As you can see in the video, the YouTuber uses a drill machine to “install a 3.5mm headphone jack” onto the iPhone 7. TechRax even inserts a headphone to the newly installed port and turns on the music which is clearly coming from the bottom speakers. Somehow, poor Apple fans still fell for it.
The video has amassed about 10 million views in just ten days. Its description notes:
“This video is for those who don’t want to get $159 wireless airpods or have to insert your headphones into an adapter every time you listen to music.”
A couple of years ago, something similar happened, as a YouTube video showed iPhone users how they could quickly charge their phones wirelessly by microwaving them. Loads of people tried and nuked their phones into extinction.
It is strange why Apple left out the headphone jack, especially considering that the phone isn’t that slim either. The reversible ports might replace headphone jacks someday but until you can attach two wires concurrently to your phone, the headphone jack will always be missed (Yes, Lenovo and Le Eco you made the same mistake). Yes, we get all the explanations about digital audio but it feels more like a walled garden approach rather than anything else.

Headphone jack has been omitted to get extra space for (bigger) battery and processor.
Bigger battery makes sense, but bigger processor? Processors shrink with every new generation, not the other way round.
