Karachi has some major scale investment coming in for development purposes in the near future.
The city’s Mayor, Wasim Akhtar, has announced 25 different development projects for Karachi which will roughly cost around half a billion rupees.
While speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) building, the Mayor said that these projects will include repair, patch work, reconstruction and carpeting of roads. Improving the sewerage system of the city is also one of the tasks included in the project. The streets of the city will receive concrete flooring as well.
The mayor further revealed that a scheme of collecting garbage in bags will also be introduced to enhance the situation of garbage in the city.
“The project was started with the consent of the shopkeepers and will gradually be initiated up in other districts.”
Nine projects costing Rs. 179 million will be initiated in the Central District of the city.
Seven projects worth Rs. 139 million will be put in in place in the Eastern District and nine projects worth Rs. 60 million and Rs. 120 million will be started in District West and South respectively.
He said that these projects are going to be monitored by the chairmen and other officials of the District Municipal Corporation (DMC). They will make sure that the correct funds are utilized in the right place for better standards and quality.
Finally, the Mayor said that the proposal for these development projects of the city have been sent to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for approval.
