China Mobile Announces New Investments, 4G Sites to Reach 10,500

China Mobile Pakistan (Zong) has reaffirmed its stated commitment of adding more investment in Pakistan in the coming years.

It is important to mention that the organization has already invested over USD 2 Billion in Pakistan in the recent years & was the first to invest in the auctioned 3G & 4G licenses.

The company announced another USD 200 Million investment in Pakistan at its Annual Business Conference, which was the biggest Telecom event of the year so far.

The company aims to expand its network by adding 3G/4G sites which are poised to reach the highest mark of 10,500 by the end of 2017.

With additional investment and network expansion, Zong intends to expand its coverage 4G coverage to not only urban but also rural areas of the country.

Notably, the decision to add more investment in the country was announced after the company posted strong results in 2016, which was reflected by company’s positive growth, aggressive network expansion, high quality of service and an increasing trend of revenues.

Zong’s 4G subscribers have reached a record 2 Million, while it has expanded its 4G coverage to over 300 cities across Pakistan.

    • Unreliable services are because of less 3G/4G cell sites. Like if there are 200 cell sites in Lahore by a network, there are hardly 125 cell sites as 3G/4G enabled, remaining are still 2G. That cause congestion and congestion leads to unreliable services. Ufone is the only company with 100 percent cell sites as 3G in lahore. Companies need to enable all of their cell sites as 3G/4G for better results and better coverage in big cities.

      • May be you are right. But I am talking about the metropolitan city Karachi. The area where I am using 3G is Clifton Block 8, one of the posh areas of Karachi, yet getting a speed not over than 25kb/s on 3G.

        • Congestion can also caused because of extra users on a single cell site. Every company is not great every where. Like I live at posh area of Faisalabad and Jazz 3G and Warid 4G are shit here with very bad signal strength.

        • When it comes to internet connections in pakistan it all depends on your on location. This was the case with wired connections and is definitely the case with wireless connections. So i suggest you try different company’s sims and see which one works well in your area.

  • Zong the best. Providing 4G services in Balakot…. When others struggling to provide 3G services here…

    • i visited naran in june 2016 . that time balakot had zong 3g. i was surprised . zong had strong coverage from balakot to naran .Stayed night at paras and visited shogran. at both places mobilink was very weak. i was unable to complete calls. mobilink was my main no. but i swithced to zong for calls during my whole tour. paras had zong edge that time. uploaded few pics there to whatsapp lolzzz when i was staying night at hotel and mobilink had no coerage at hotel…

really good to hear that balakot has now 4g. good going zong…i guess very soon they will have 90% – 100% 3g/4g coverage . they are the only one investing non stop from the day they got 3g/4g license

  • Zong increased the MBB prices not Data sim plans. Because they want to spend money on providing LTE Coverage in whole country not oto provides discount on MBB devices..
