This is the New Mitsubishi Lancer 2018

Even though Mitsubishi Lancer has been sentenced to death in most Asian markets, the company is aiming to make a comeback with its 2018 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer (9th Gen).

Rising From the Ashes?

The downfall of Lancer was primarily because of the automakers themselves, who failed to offer any meaningful redesign to the vehicle for over a decade or so. However, it seems that Mitsubishi is intent on making its Lancer brand relevant once again.

The Grand Lancer comes with significant changes to the bodywork which features Mitsubishi’s latest dynamic shield front grille, angular headlamps, C-shaped tail lamps and top end variants also receive two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.

The manufacturers did not forget to make the necessary changes in the cabin. It gets a brand new layout; decorated with silver details, which gives it a more premium look.

As opposed to vehicles with ordinary instrument panel, Grand Lancer gets a 10.2-inch all-customized instrument board and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment framework.

Under the hood of the new addition to the Lancer family, it employs a 1.8-litre petrol engine, capable of producing 138hp and 172Nm torque. It however comes with a sole transmission only. The only gearbox option on the Grand Lancer is an INVECS-III CVT.

According to a Mitsubishi representative:

It [Mitsubishi Grand Lancer] is also available is a manual mode with six pre-selected ratios and paddle shifter on the wheel as an option

In the fuel consumption department, it is rumored that the Grand Lancer has a respectable 15.7 kilometers per liter, equivalent to 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

Other features of the 2018 Lancer include reverse camera, dual zone automatic climate controls and new door panels. In terms of safety, the new Lancer gets a total of 6 air bags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill start assist and emergency brake warning system.

Moreover, it also receives accident warning system and ISOFIX rear child seat anchors.

According to the international market rates, Grand Lancer will cost around PKR 2.8 million. With the company keen on promoting its sales in Asian market, Pakistan remains a very likely destination for the Grand Lancer.
