Xiaomi’s Mi 6 is a Top Tier Flagship at Half the Price

Xiaomi has just unveiled its flagship for 2017, the Mi 6, at an event held in Beijing, China.

This time around, Xiaomi has focused on emphasizing the design and build of the Mi 6. It features a glass front and back with a steel frame in between them with some special polish on it, which Xiaomi claims takes up to 12 days and 40 processes to finish.

As for the display, the Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080p resolution which is around 428ppi. Xiaomi says that in real-world scenarios, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the Mi 6 and any other higher resolution screen on the market. The lower resolution of the Mi 6 will also supposedly help it achieve extraordinary battery life. The fingerprint scanner is also under-glass on the front.

And yes, the rumors were true, the headphone jack has indeed been removed from the Mi 6. The Mi 6 does however integrate dual front firing stereo speakers, a first for any Xiaomi smarthphone.

One of the biggest highlighted features in the event was that the Mi 6 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor (with a 10nm architecture) and clocks in at 2.45GHz. Graphics will be handled by an Adreno 540 and it has 6GB of LPDD4 RAM.

With such impressive specifications, Xiaomi claims that the Mi 6 was able to beat the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of graphics and the Galaxy S8 in AnTuTu benchmarks.

Keeping up with other flagships in the industry, the Mi 6 also introduces dual-cameras. They are both of 12MP where one of them is a wide-angle lens and the other is telephoto. Xiaomi has added 4-phase optical image stabilization for its wide-angle 12MP camera. It also features phase detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. The front camera is a standard 8MP shooter with 2160p recording.

Finally, the Mi 6 comes with a 3,350mAh battery which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0. On the software side of things, It will be running Android 7.1 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 on top of it.

The base variant of the Mi 6 which comes with the 6GB+64GB configuration costs CNY 2500 or Rs. 38,000. The 6GB+128GB variant comes in at CNY 2,900 or Rs. 44,100.

Xiaomi has also made available a limited edition variant of the Mi 6 that comes with 4-sided 3D glass, 18k gold plating on the camera ring and 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage at a price of CNY 3,000 or Rs. 45,665.

  • Bilal Hakim,
Isn’t fast charging there as well? Still its definitely my next phone.

  • the design is completely ripped-off from Honor 8, even the blue color looks exactly the same.

  • Xiaomi should play as 20 twenty match not as like test.
3 mid range set launch kr k khamoosh hai.

  • Could have overlooked only 3300mah battery but since there is no headphone jack either i pass.

    • Type C is the new standard. Forget 3.5mm jacks from now on.

What about the battery? Most flagship phones have battery in these ranges I.e 3300-3600. See OnePlus 3T or Moto Z Force or S7

  • Don’t be happy guyz because you aren’t going to get the 38k version for 38k. If anyone is lucky enough he might get it in 60k the chances are very rare for that also. What i see is the prices will 60k+ for sure.
