Anusha Rehman Sworn in as State Minister for IT and Telecom

Anusha Rehman has just taken oath as the State Minister for IT and Telecoms, we have checked with sources.

Anusha Rehman served in the same position in the previous cabinet as well.

After the cabinet was dissolved due to the disqualification of Mr. Nawaz Sharif as the Prime Minister after the Panama case verdict, Mrs. Anusha’s post also fell vacant. However, she is being retained by the new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqaan Abbasi for the same position.

Anusha Rehman, who played a huge role in uplift of IT and Telecom sector in Pakistan, is seen as an integral part of PML-N. She is often seen on the front for the party against its fight with PTI in the courts and elsewhere.

Amongst her various achievements during her role as State Minister for IT and Telecom, she was also considered as a key player behind the emergence of 3G and 4G technologies in Pakistan. She oversaw the 3G/4G auction in April 2014 where the 4 major telcos during that time all bagged 3G licenses.

She has been praised world over due to her special focus on girl’s uplifting in tech sector. She won various global awards including GSMA award for her efforts in Pakistan for IT and Telecom sector.

At one time, Anusha promised to bring services like Amazon and Paypal to Pakistan too, which unfortunately remains unfulfilled to date.

  • If this website is for tech and startup, I don’t think that it’s a good idea to involve political affairs in the articles.

    • Agree, since this article exists I have a question. Is any member who was part of the previous cabinet no longer part of the current cabinet? Was it totally ceremonial or is there some changes in the new cabinet?

      • Ch. Nisar is no more interior minister. Ministry of water and power is dissolved. A new ministry of water is established. Ministry of petroleum is merged with power now its called ministry of energy. And now ministry of foreign affairs also has a minister.
