National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has arrested Naeem Akhtar , former Director P&D Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology.
He was wanted in the investigation being conducted against the management of the said university on the charges of embezzlement of university funds under various cases.

The accused has been accused of illegally awarding the contract for provision of security services for the university campus to M/s Sardar Security Services Pvt Ltd. In doing so, he bypassed the relevant rules of tender process and awarded the contract as a favor.
The illegal act on his part resulted in loss of Rs. 82 million to the national exchequer since Urdu University is a public sector institute funded by the HEC and the government.

The accused has made a disclosure of his involvement in the crime with other members of the university management. All of the mentioned people will now be included in the investigation. Naeem Akhtar will be presented before the Accountability Court in Karachi tomorrow for a physical remand.
It must be mentioned that National Accountability Bureau is being converted into National Accountability Commission (NAC). The government is preparing a final draft bill which is expected to be approved soon. A 20 member parliamentary committee is working on it in order to resolve the issue of plea bargains and bring a change in Article 184(3).

Is it not true that an university official of a university in Islamabad’s National Park road had university funds in his sister-in law’s account for bank statement required for a visa ?
Is it not true that an university official in Peshawar had university funds in his accounts of his two sons who later went to study in UK ?
HEC, Federal government, provincial governments have failed to come up with any policy where Public sector universities should have bank accounts only in NBP and any chance of using public funds in personal accounts should be eliminated.
NAB under this current chairman has become a joke. Just show off stunts. Shameless man is still enjoying luxury on Tax Payers’ expense despite of SC remarks which say that NAB has died in front of our own eyes when its chairman himself admits in court that he can’t do anything about corruption of top politicians. This man deserves public execution.
