Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has unearthed massive irregularities in 13 different Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) funded projects of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
FIA is conducting inquires in 13 projects of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) of the IT Ministry for which a total allocation of Rs 1.555 billion was made.
FIA has completed inquiry in one project “E-services at Capital Development Authority (CDA)” with cost of Rs 175 billion and found a loss of over Rs 140 million to the national exchequer, said Director FIA Mazhar-ul-Haq Kakakhel. He was briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication, which met with Shahi Syed in the chair here on Thursday.
The committee was further informed that irregularities and negligence were made in “E-services in CDA” project and FIA has recommended for registering FIR against four officials found involved in the negligence. Software and hardware for CDA project were acquired but neither utilized nor anybody took ownership for it. Further inquiries in other 12 projects of the IT ministry are under process, FIA Director added.
The official further informed that FIA has received 7500 complaints related to social media where false blasphemy allegations top the list. FIA has registered 3 FIRs so far. FIA has the forensic facilities and ability to trace such cases but do not monitor it as it is beyond their ambit.
