New SMS App by Microsoft Takes Care of the Spam Problem

Update: The app seems to be region locked for now. We’ll post an update as soon as Pakistan gets added to the list of approved countries.

You, like every other person in this country, have to go through your spam SMS to find the messages that you really want to read. We’ve all been facing this problem for the past few years and we’re not the only ones, India actually got so fed up with spam that their Microsoft Garage Team, Team Golconda, developed an application which helps you solve your biggest SMS problem: spam.

This smart SMS app is a good-looking substitute for your default one. What makes this application more unique and easy-to-use is its tab-based user interface which automatically organizes all your messages to give it a more Outlook kind of look.

This application is much better than your average SMS application because of how it organizes your message into separate tabs so you don’t have to get annoyed by all the spam. There is a tab for personal messages and a separate tab for promotional messages.

One of the things we liked most about this application is that it can auto detect two-factor authentication codes and it only displays those codes rather than you having to open and see the whole message. Another is how this application has a dark theme which allows the users to reduce the glare from their mobile screens and read through their messages with comfort at night.

This application only takes 4MB of space on your mobile device.

Some of the salient features of the app included better security, the ability to star important messages, reminders and smart cards.

Here is the backstory of the application in Team Golconda‘s own words:

SMS in India is what email is in the rest of the world. India is a mobile first market with very high mobile penetration. Internet penetration, though, is still not there yet, making SMS the best tool for businesses and government agencies to communicate with people. Every transaction with a business or a government entity triggers an SMS. Additionally, businesses send several promotional messages each month cluttering up an already busy SMS Inbox.

Given the growing importance of SMS in an Indian user’s life, we wanted to create an application that makes it easier for a user to manage their SMS. We did this by creating an app that cleans the SMS Inbox by classifying, and interpreting SMS to help users focus on the SMS important to them.

The app has been designed keeping in mind the Indian mobile user’s needs in mind. It is lightweight and is built to work completely offline. It does all the classification and interpretation on the device i.e. without uploading any SMS to the cloud for processing. It respects user’s privacy by not uploading any SMS or meta information about the SMS.

If you wish to download this application but you do not live in India, fear not, we have you covered.

APK: SMS Organizer – Clean, Blocker, Reminders & Backup APK

  • Only for Indian Users, we can download it from your link but can’t verify as +91 is default country code. So this post doesn’t make sense.

  • Needs Indian number verification before it allows you to use. You should have at-least tried to install/run it once before posting.

  • article copy paste koi aur karta hai aur comments review karne k baad action koi aur leta hai :P

  • Well its a garage project which means it is NOT developed by Microsoft plus its country locked.
Seems to be half researched paid promotional content with a third party link which is known for warez and viruses.

    • Most tech companies have indians working.. Google and Microsoft CEOs are indians.. Maybe Throw your phone, computer and all other electronics as well ?

  • Great app. I’ve been using sms organiser. I wanted a fresh UI. Here came the kyte app. But I would like to see personal dedicated button. Absolutely killed it with the bookings tab. Would love to see book cab feature soon. Need font adjustment settings
