Lenovo’s K8, K8 Plus Take On Xiaomi’s Redmi Series

Lenovo has announced a couple of K8 series phones for the low-end segment of the market. The K8 Plus, which is the better model of the two, comes with a curved display and dual-camera setup.

Lenovo K8 Plus will cost $170 while K8’s price hasn’t been announced yet.

Currently the phones are available in India with no word on a release date for Pakistan. However, you can expect these two to hit the Pakistani market in a few weeks time at most.

Design and Display

Lenovo K8

The design is metal-based and appears thin enough for a large battery phone. There is no major difference between the two phones in terms of their designs, save for the only distinctive feature being the dual cameras on the K8 Plus.

The display here is a 5.2″ 1080p panel with a curved glass front for K8 plus while the K8 has a 720p resolution screen. There’s Gorilla Glass protection as well as an oleophobic coating for easy cleaning of smudges.

Internals and Storage

Under the hood, you get the respectable mid-range offering of an octa core MediaTek’s Helio P25 processor on the K8 Plus. For the K8 you get a MediaTek Helio P20 instead.

There will be a 3 GB RAM version with 32 GB storage, as well as a 4 GB version with 64 GB storage. Both are expandable by up to 128 GB via microSD.

Both the phones come with the stock Android Nougat OS version.

Camera(s)

With the Lenovo K8 Plus, the eye-catching detail here is the camera which consists of a dual-camera setup that is one of more-accessible due to its low price.

There is a single 13 MP camera combined with a second wide-angle 5 MP shooter, which allows for refocusing of photos later. A second 8 MP camera adorns the front.

K8 on the other hand has a single 13 MP camera with PDAF and an LED flash.

Battery

The K8 and K8 Plus come with a 4000 mAh battery, though, fast-charging is likely not available here. It shouldn’t be a concern for most overnight chargers, though.
