Save Big with Our Black Friday Shopping Guide

Black Friday is coming soon and with it, a lot of deals with big discounts. Normally you get massive price cuts on different products and gadgets on this event in the west, but this wasn’t the case in Pakistan last year.

Most of the stores offered discounts only if you had an easypaisa/Jazzcash account (or paid using some other payment method) while others had fake discounts by hiking up the price and then giving a “discount” on it.

To avoid getting scammed out of your money and getting a good deal or two, here are some tips for making the most out of this shopping event:

Avoid Shopping From Shady, Unknown or Small Time Websites

Did you find a really good deal on ‘blackfridaypakistan.com’ or some other site with a similar name? Chances are that the site is probably fake. You should avoid going to any of these sites and head to known websites for reliability.

Some of the popular sites are Daraz.pk, homeshopping.pk, yayvo.com to name a few.

Compare Prices on Stores

If there is a specific smartphone, TV or laptop you want to buy, checking prices at other stores is a good idea.

If you see a deal on a particular online store, check other sites for the same thing to see if it has a better discount on it. A quick Google search will reveal if any other retailer has the same thing listed under a lower price.

Using a price comparison site also works, you can head to priceoye.pk, priceblaze.pk or comparebox.pk.

Don’t take their word as law, do your own Google search to confirm.

Check Older Prices

This is a tactic a lot of online stores used last year. Some of the retailers showed an exorbitant price listing on the deals, discounting them to the same price listed a few days ago. Do check older prices for products before buying them.

Social Media Groups

Follow Social media groups/pages of the online retailers and groups/pages which share good deals.

You can get notifications when a page or group is updated with a new offer, saving you the hassle of manually checking it yourself.

Store Apps

Shopping via apps is a better option at times. Some retailers might offer additional discounts when ordering from an app.

Vouchers

Vouchers are also being offered by some of the retailers. You can use them to get special discounts. Its possible that the item you’re buying might also have a voucher that could add more value to the offer.

Payment Options

You can get an additional discount by choosing different payment options.

JazzCash, EasyPaisa, Debit/Credit card payment options can net you an additional discount compared with cash on delivery or bank transfer.

Don’t Wait Too Long

If you find something you know is a good buy, get it before it goes out of stock. Everyone is on the lookout for these deals so buy it immediately and don’t wait to bundle other items with your order. Good offers don’t last long.

  • I m not a Molvi but please dont call Juma tul Mubarak as Black Firday. Quran has a surah with this name and it is especially granted to the Muslims and we start calling it Black, and please dont promote this tradition just to save a few rupees. You people can offer these sales on some other day like saturday or sunday and call them Black.

      • Dear Osman bhai, being a muslim our first priority should be our religion then other things come. Dont you think that we should spend our lives according to the teachings of Islam. If yes, then we have to see everything accordingly.

        • Don’t take it personal! Cheezo ko uhn ki jhaga pe rahk deihkna chaiye os ki origin kya hai…Its just a name. Ap ko msla sirf or sirf name se hai ese esa ku kaha ja rha hai. Es name Mazab ko kya koi khatra hai humra Mazahab itna kamzor hai esi kisi cheez se distrub ho skta hai..hum ku itna insecure hain Mazahab k mamley mai?

          • Dear Osman, if some day some one start calling you with a very abusive name then what will you do. After all that will be just a naming issue. You will definately protest against it. Same is the case here and I am protesting against renaming of Jumma tu Mubarak and second point you raised that our religion is not so weak that it can be disturbed with such things. That is true but it doesn’t mean that any one start doing what ever he wants and everyone has its own meaning of Islam, and we just see it and say “Oh no one can harm my religion.”

And I am not insecure, infact its our moral duty to stop happening bad things around us

            • TIL naming a day “Black” is very abusive. Bohat ache ja rahe ho molvi.

Food for thought. Khane Kaaba’s ghilaf is black. Hajre aswat is black. Our prophet used to love black soorma. And the only reason the day is named black is because it’s how you note down profit as opposed to loss in red.

Stop making a mountain out of a molehill and focus on your own wrongdoings first.

  • I don’t believe that there is real discounts on black friday in Pakistan. There is no price reduction except on those items which are of no particular use.Just waste of time
