Xiaomi is back with successors to its popular Redmi 4 line. The new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus differ in size and internals, though they share most of the specs. And as always, both are priced within the budget category.
The design on both phones is metal-based, available in Blue, Rose Gold, Black and Gold. Both feature lesser bezels than most other phones in their class as well.
The display on the Redmi 5 is a 5.7-inch IPS LCD panel, while the Plus version ups it to 6-inches. Both come with FHD+ resolution (2160 x 1080), and have 2:1 panels like the recent flagships.
Redmi 5 comes with a Snapdragon 450 processor, with 2 or 3 GB RAM, along with corresponding 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage.
The Redmi 5 Plus on the other hand comes with Snapdragon 625 processor, with 3 or 4 GB RAM, as well as a corresponding 32 or 64 GB storage.
The OS you’ll find is Android 7.1.2 with MIUI 9.
The camera setups on the two Redmi phones are the same, with a 12 MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video, along with a 5 MP shooter on the front.
The Redmi 5 comes with a 3300 mAh battery, while its bigger sibling ups it to 4000 mAh. Xiaomi didn’t fast-charging though.
As for the price, the Redmi 5 will come for $120, while the Plus version starts at $150. Prices will, of course, vary in Pakistan.
