Banks to Remain Closed for Public on January 1st 2018

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will observe 1st January 2018 as a bank holiday and it will remain shut for all sort of public dealing.

A press release issued on Wednesday said that the central bank of Pakistan will observe a bank holiday and will not entertain public on the upcoming Monday.

Moreover, all banks, including Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MBFs) shall, therefore, remain shut for public dealing on the same date.

SBP’s Press Release states:

All banks / Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) /Microfinance Banks (MFBs) shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on 1st January, 2018.

However, all employees of the banks / DFIs / MFBs will attend the office on Bank Holiday, treating it as normal working day (except for public dealings).

New Year’s Day in Pakistan is celebrated with fervor across a multitude of culturally, ethnically and religiously diverse communities.

Banks are closed for the general public but not for their employees.
