CM Punjab Inaugurates International Swimming Complex in Lahore

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif officially inaugurated the Punjab International Swimming Complex at Qaddafi Stadium, the first ever international level swimming pool is now open for holding international competitions. He said,

An international standard swimming complex has been developed in the provincial metropolis and a number of facilities have been provided for the players.

While talking to the players and coaches, he told the players to take complete advantage of the facility and use it to prepare for international events and bring laurels home. The CM hopes that this complex would be a gateway in promoting the sport of swimming.

The complex consists of a 50-meter pool for men and 25-meter for women along with a temperature control system.

He also advised the Sports Board Punjab to hire trainers and coaches on merit basis. Shairf also said that a merit should be prepared first before hiring anyone – the aim is to hire around 70 employees for the complex.

Former Test cricket captains Intikhab Alam, Zaheer Abbas, hockey Olympians Akhtar Rasool Chaudhry, Khawaja Junaid, former Lahore Cricket Association president Khawaja Nadeem and many others attended the event.

This is a great step for the promotion of water sports in Pakistan and should further extend to other sports as well.
