Vehicle Production Increases by Nearly One-Third in Just 5 Months

The first 5 months of the current fiscal year (2017-2018) proved to be beneficial for the auto industry as the production of cars and jeeps increased by 28.84%.

Cars & Jeeps

According to the latest data by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS),

• Cars and jeeps manufactured during July-November (2017-2018): 97,036
• Cars and jeeps manufactured during July-November (2016-2017): 75,314

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs)

Production of LCVs increased by 19.20% this year as compared to last year.

• LCVs manufactured during July-November (2017-2018): 12,347
• LCVs manufactured during July-November (2016-2017): 10,358

Motorcycles

Motorcycles production increased by 18.16% this year.

• Motorcycles manufactured during July-November (2017-2018): 1,166,207
• Motorcycles manufactured during July-November (2016-2017): 987,546

Trucks

Production of trucks also surged by 24% in the current fiscal year, partly due to increased demand from CPEC projects.

Tractors

Production of tractors surged by whopping 64.05% percent this year.

The production of buses saw a decrease of 33.39% in the current fiscal year.

On a year-on-year basis, the production of jeeps and cars increased by 17.61%.

The production of LCVs saw a rise of 42.08%.

Motorcycles

The production of motorcycles surged by 3.55%.

Tractors

The production of tractors increased by 9.73% on YoY basis.

Production of trucks witnessed a decrease of 2.96%.

Production of buses decreased by 73.24%.

Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI)

Overall, Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) saw a remarkable growth of 7.19% during July-November 2017-2018 as compared to the same period last year.
