Apple to Unveil a 6.5″ iPhone X Plus Later This Year: Rumors

While iPhone’s display size has gradually increased over the years, the biggest acknowledgment from Apple of the “phablet” form factor is coming later this year, as revealed in a Bloomberg report.

The so-called iPhone X Plus would come with a 6.5-inch OLED display, the same technology used in this year’s iPhone X. It will come with a higher resolution of 1242 x 2688 (a little over Full HD+), which is nothing impressive compared with the likes of Samsung or Sony with their Quad HD and 4K resolution displays.

Notch isn’t Going Anywhere

The design will have roughly the same dimensions as the iPhone 8 Plus, however, extra room will be available thanks to narrower bezels and a display notch.

It seems Apple still hasn’t let go of the horrendous notch, which shows a lack of ideas on their part.

Powering this phone will be the upcoming A12 chip, which will succeed the current A11 Bionic processor. Further, the phone will be available in a Gold hue, something which evaded the current iPhone X due to production woes.

Two More iPhone X’s

Going by the image above, it will be one of the three iPhones Apple will launch at the event later this year. One of those will be a cheaper 6.1″ LCD iPhone, which will come with a lower resolution and price-tag.

Apple to Slow Down Newer iPhones With Hardware Level Throttling

However, the same design philosophy as the iPhone X (narrow bezels, display notch, etc.) will be retained. Features like the Face ID will also be available, however, the OLED display as well as 3D Touch won’t make the cut for the LCD variant.

The smallest iPhone will feature the same display size and format as the existing iPhone X. It might also be upgraded with the same chip as the iPhone X Plus, as well as the same color option. Of course, like all rumors, be advised to take this one with a pinch of salt.
