Xiaomi never fails to impress with its cheap yet great phones. Their mid-range lineup just got better and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is now available to purchase in both 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB variants in Pakistan.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is a jacked up successor of the popular Redmi 5 and is faster this time with a bigger display and the same classy design.
The display unit on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080x2160p) resolution IPS LCD and has an aspect ratio of 18:9. Compared to Redmi 5’s display, this one is slightly larger and has a sharper resolution. The ~76% screen-to-body ratio is almost the same as before too.
Other than the size, display, and processor the Redmi 5 Plus is almost the same as its predecessor and comes with a familiar rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The display has a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass – however, Xiaomi has not specified the version.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and is available in either 3 or 4 GB RAM.
The internal storage options are 32 GB (paired with 3 GB RAM) and 64 GB (paired with 4 GB RAM) but can be expanded up to 128 GB via a hybrid dual-SIM slot/microSD card slot.
One of the differences between the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus is that the main camera can record up to 4K at 30 FPS, the former can only manage up to 1080p. Other than that, both the primary and front cameras are almost the same.

The rear camera sensor is a 12 MP unit with PDAF and a dual-tone flash. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter.
Unlike newer devices, the Redmi 5 Plus, unfortunately, comes with Android 7.1.2 Nougat and an Oreo update is unavailable. Even so, the MIUI9 is nippy and comes with a bunch of handy features.
The battery capacity is 4,000 mAh (Redmi 5 has 3,300mAh) chargeable via microUSB 2.0. Unfortunately, fast charging is unavailable.
The 3 GB/32 GB variant costs Rs. 20,000 and the 6 GB/64 GB option has a price tag of Rs. 26,000. Color options are Black, Gold, and Sky Blue. The 4/64 variant was not available in Pakistan before but can now be purchased from Mistore.pk.
