Another Injury: Misbah Ruled Out of PSL Final

After qualifying for the final of the on-going Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United have been dealt with a huge blow as Misbah-ul-Haq has been ruled out of the competition.

According to reports, the former Pakistani captain has been ruled out due to a hairline fracture on his wrist.

Misbah picked up the injury in a final league-round match against Karachi Kings. Doctors claim that the impact of the bouncer, which Tymal Mills bowled, will certainly rule Misbah out of the final of PSL 2018.

South African JP Duminy was named as the stand-in captain for Islamabad when they faced Karachi in the qualifiers. Moreover, Sahibzada Farhan was named as Misbah’s replacement in the squad.

This is the third major injury to the Islamabad squad. Before this, the team lost their vice-captain Rumman Raees as he was ruled out due to a knee injury. Andre Russell also suffered an injury early in the competition. It was particularly disappointing for the West Indian as he was returning from a year-long ban for a doping violation.

Islamabad will miss the experience Misbah brings to the table. When you speak about the statistics and his contribution in terms of number, Misbah has been disappointing.

Misbah has played 8 matches this PSL and batter 4 times, with 22 as his best score.

Islamabad United will face either one of Quetta, Karachi or Peshawar in the final which is to be played on 25th March in Karachi.
