Meizu has announced a new mid-range E3 smartphone, which comes with some of the high-end features found in the company’s flagship offerings. It is available in China for now, though international availability is anyone’s guess.
The display at the front is a 6” 2:1 IPS LCD, with 85% coverage of NTSC color gamut.

E3’s design is metal-based and largely simple and straightforward. It is available in Black, Gold & Blue, and comes with a side-mounted finger-print scanner.
Under the hood, you get the new Snapdragon 636 processor with eight Kryo cores, 6 GB RAM, and either 64 or 128 GB storage, expandable via a microSD card slot.
The OS running on it is Android Nougat with Flyme OS, with support for a few AI features and game mode.
Connectivity options include VoLTE, BL 5.0, Wi-Fi ac and USB-C.
On the back of the E3 is a dual-camera setup with 12 MP and 20 MP Sony lenses, both of which are protected by sapphire glass. The cameras are accompanied by a true-tone flash with 2.5X lossless zoom and 1.8X optical zoom.
The front camera comes with an 8 MP lens, which supports facial unlock and beautifying filters.
Meizu E3 is powered by a modest 3360 mAh battery, supporting 20W fast-charging.
Pricing is set at $285 for the base model, or $315 for the 128 GB version. Overall the E3 appears to be a compelling offering from Meizu, compared with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro or Huawei Mate 10 Lite.
