Uber Supports “Ride for Safety” Rally Across Lahore

Did you know that about 2.69% of Pakistanis die due to road accidents every year? And that about 50% of these road accidents involve motorbikes?

There is an urgent need to build awareness about this situation and how motorcycle owners and riders in Pakistan can become part of the solution in bringing down the casualty rate, and ensure safer roads for everyone.

Recently, Uber Pakistan launched its bike-hailing services in Lahore, Pakistan’s cultural capital. As a globally responsible corporate entity, the company wants to go a step further by supporting the local community of bikers.

Ride for Safety – Ensuring Safer Roads for All

Uber is supporting a Roadies Rally to “Ride for Safety” across Lahore to raise awareness about road safety at Gaddafi Stadium at Lahore on 1st April 2018.

It is time for motorcyclists to create awareness about safety practices when riding a bike

The first thing that Uber is hoping to address with its event is how the use of bike helmets can help save lives. A lot of Pakistani bikers are observed without wearing one, putting their own and the passengers lives at risk.

To popularize the use of these helmets, Uber has offered incentives for riders who attend the ‘Ride for Safety’ event.  for each rider who takes part in the event, Uber will donate one helmet to a motorcyclist who doesn’t own one.

During this event, bikers who have registered foruberMOTO, the company’s bike-hailing service, will also join the rally to show their support for the cause.

It is hoped that Uber’s drive towards changing the prevalent attitudes of bike riders in Pakistani roads are replicated and promoted in other cities in the days to come.
