Auto X Launches Project to Train 1000 Automotive Micro Entrepreneurs

NIC Startup AUTOX is collaborating with Uth Jawan to produce 1000 certified mechanics/Auto Detailers under a new program, “Project X”.

Focused on training the technicians, mechanics and electricians, the professional service technicians training program aims to assist capable service technicians and get them certified on the skills they already have.

The program will specifically focus on empowering women; aiming to include about 30% women workers.

The training courses will range from mechanics, electricians and detailing experts. AutoX will then help with permanent placements of these skilled people at AutoX’s own centers or over 150 partner service centers. All these facilities will be female friendly to accommodate female staff and lady car owners.

Uth Jawan will be focusing on the training and soft skills of the participants. This program will also train these people in computer skills to help the auto industry grow.

AutoX is also trying to break the stereotype that only men can work at car service centers

Our team, with the help of UthJawan, will empower women to work in the same environment making it easier for lady car owners to take their vehicles in for service.

Talking to the media, Mufeez Rana CEO of AutoX commented,

Our mission is to give economic prosperity to Pakistani youth. In the first stage, we are developing skilled force in automobile industry and also giving them a platform for their economic development.

Zain Majid CEO TEC mentioned,

We are also planning to train the youth in the area of Videography, Photography, Graphic Designing, Painting, House Technician etc. This program will give them opportunity to build their own startups in the marginalized communities of urban areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Parvez Abbasi, Project Director, NIC said

We are delighted to see the way Auto X is progressing as a car maintenance service provider in Lahore. It’s commendable the way they have collaborated with UthJawan to train and empower the technicians and electricians,  providing them with opportunities to expand their skill set and to be a major part of the workforce.

UthJawan is a nonprofit wing of Training Events Consultancy which is a leading conference management firm that is strengthening the digital ecosystem in Pakistan. UthJawan is building a video platform to inspire youth to create awareness about entrepreneurship.

AutoX started with a vision to have an impact on people’s lives from the very beginning by offering vehicle services at their doorstep to enable people to spend their precious time on things that matter. Over time, they realized they are solving only one side of the equation, a lot of really capable service technicians who work on daily wages at different workshops struggle to make ends meet. They focus on getting work every day whereas they should be focusing on improving their skill which creates a supply and demand gap.
