Meizu M8c is an Entry Level Device With Modern Features

Meizu just unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, the M8c, which is an upgraded version of M5c launched a year ago. The design and display size are pretty decent, it gets a tall 18:9 ratio panel and a minimalist material finish for cheap.

Design & Display

The plastic M8c measures 146.4 x 70 x 8.5 mm and weighs 140 g. Meizu designed it for easy one-handed usage and pocket friendliness. There’s no visible fingerprint scanner, the headphone jack is at the top and the speakers are mounted below the device.

As for the display, it’s a 5.45-inch panel with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels (HD+). There’s a protective layer of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on top, and the display technology is IPS LCD.

Hardware & Storage

Beneath the covers, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 2 GB of RAM. The processor is quad-core, clocked at 1.4 GHz, and the graphics end is run by an Adreno 308.

For the storage, you get 16 GB internal expandable via microSD by up to 128 GB.

Camera & Software

It does not have dual cameras. The single rear lens can shoot up to 13 MP at f/2.2 aperture and supports PDAF. The front camera is an 8 MP unit, with a f/2.0 aperture, and it also supports facial recognition to compensate for the absence of a fingerprint sensor.

M8c comes with Meizu’s Flyme UI, on top of Android Oreo.

Battery, Price, & Availability

It houses a 3070 mAh battery chargeable via microUSB 2.0. There’s no fast charging available, unfortunately. It’s only available in Russia for now on Meizu’s Russian website.

Color options are Red, Gold, and Blue, at a price of RUB 9,990 (~Rs. 19,000). We will let you know once it hits stores in Pakistan.
