ARY Network Ltd has agreed to pay a hefty fine imposed by the London High Court, after it was found guilty in a defamation case. Mian Mohammad Mansha had registered a case against the private media network over an ARY report that made claims against him.
According to the settlement terms, ARY has agreed to pay Mian Mansha £75,000 in damages and £200,000 in legal costs.
2 Year Old Case Finally Resolved
Justice Nicklin of the London High Court signed the orders and resolved the defamation claims after ARY agreed to pay Mian Mohammad Mansha “substantial damages of £75,000 and agreed legal costs of £200,000.”
The public notice about the judgment was released on Saturday while the consent orders were approved on 8th June. The case was brought to the London court by Mian Mansha in April 2016 after ARY released its report in the program “Kab Tak”.
The public notice reads:
“[ARY Network Ltd] entered into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on Jan 12, 2017. Following this, the responsibility for the defense of the proceedings passed to the appointed liquidator.

The UK media regulator revoked ARY’s licenses in 2017 as well “due to breaches of the license terms.”
Carter-Ruck Solicitors told that:
The settlement is a total vindication of M.r Mansha’s position. Despite many requests, at no time, did ARY Network Ltd provide any evidence whatsoever in support of any of the allegations.
Details About the Case
The ARY Network published a report in the program alleging that Mian Mansha was “guilty of money laundering in relation to the acquisition of the St James Hotel and Club Ltd.” In 2015, the network again released “an exclusive report of Mian Mansha’s stay at St James Hotel.”
Mian Mansha’s lawyers termed these reports by ARY as “wholly false and defamatory allegations,” and decided to take the matter to the court.
The St James Hotel purchase issue was raised by the Senate Standing Committee in July 2o15 as well. Nishat Group, owned by Mian Mansha, purchased the hotel reportedly for $60 million back in 2010. The Senate Committee inquired about the deal’s details and sought explanation on how the money was transferred abroad to pay for the hotel.
The State Bank of Pakistan replied on the matter, saying that it didn’t issue any permission to remit the money. Many TV channels released their reports based on SBP’s replies which were denied by Mansha’s counsel.
The case caught the attention of the Islamabad High Court as well. The court asked SBP, National Accountability Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency, and Federal Bureau of Revenue about the payment details.
Mansha maintained that the money paid for the hotel was legally remitted to the UK after paying all taxes in Pakistan.
Ary thought this is a pakistani judiciary.
Right said. Pak judiciary is just a boot licker.
LOL.
If same was happening in Pakistan ARY would have gone bankrupt years back paying for defamation suits.
ARY and BOL, are truly a shame for Media. This is the second case. Geo and dawn have much better standard.
