Continued rain spells in the early monsoon season and the high likelihood of more rains in the coming days has forced the Water and Sanitation Authority to issue a rain warning in some parts of Pakistan.
In the last 24 hours, rains and thunderstorms with gusty winds were witnessed at Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, D.G.Khan divisions, Islamabad, and Kashmir. Some isolated places in Peshawar, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan were also affected as well’, according to Met Office.
Following the recent spells of rains, the water level in Nullah Lai in Rawalpindi has increased. Due to this development a red alert for flood has been issued in the twin cities.

Area-wise, Gilgit-Baltistan (-57%), Sindh (-67%) and Balochistan (-38%) have received less rainfall than normal.

Islamabad received 60mm rain in the past 24 hours, followed by Toba Tek Singh (49mm), Shorkot (41mm), Rawalpindi (36mm) and Mandi Bahaud-Din (33 m).
47mm rainfall was recorded in Muzaffarabad, 25mm in Balakot, 5mm in Bagrote Gilgit Baltistan and 2mm in Shaheed Benazirabad and Padidan in Sindh.
