Origin’s Gaming Laptop Comes with Dual SSDs and a Core i9 Processor

Origin may not be the first name to come in most people’s minds when it comes to gaming laptops, but the company has delivered quality machines for a long time now. Their latest EON15-S laptop is a high-end machine which still tips the scales at 1.5kg despite having 2 SSDs.

Design

The display at the front is a 15″ IPS 1080p panel. However, you can add up to three additional ones with its mini DisplayPort and HDMI-out. The bezels surrounding the display are narrow, while the so-called “hybrid” mechanical keyboard comes with individual RGB lighting for each key.

Hardware

Under the hood, you get one of those new hexa-core processors from Intel, including a Core i7-8750H or Core i9-8950HK, with up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory.

As for storage, you get a choice of two SSDs, which can bring the storage total to 4 TB. For graphics, you get a 6 GB GDDR5 GTX 1060, though, unfortunately, you can’t go higher.

Connectivity

Your connectivity options include USB-C, 3 USB-A, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi ac, HD webcam, and an SD card reader, coupled with the aforementioned 2 mini DisplayPort 1.3 and HDMI. The OS running on the machine is Windows 10 Pro.

For people who want more power, there’s the larger EOS17-S, which comes with a GTX 1070 GPU, with the caveat being a much-inflated design and price-tag.

The laptop should start at $1449 for the base model, which is the premium you’ll likely have to pay for its relatively light design. The laptop is currently available with the i7 processor only, the Core i9 variant will be available at a later date.
