LG Launches the G7 One and G7 Fit

Today at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) event in Berlin, LG was expected to unveil a couple of consumer electronics including a smartphone. However, they ended up releasing two Smartphones today one of which is an Android One phone and comes without LG’s UI on board.

LG G7 One

Design and Display

The G7 One follows the same premium design elements as the G7 ThinQ. You get the premium glass on the front and back and the polished metal frame sandwiched between the glass which gives the phone a slim and sleek appearance.

On the back, you have a single rear-facing camera on the round fingerprint scanner module below. The fingerprint scanner no longer acts as a power button but instead, you have a dedicated power button on the right side of the phone.

The display is a gorgeous 6.1-inch panel with QHD+ (3120×1440) resolution with LG’s Super Bright Display tech onboard making it easier to use in outdoor conditions. Since the phone does have a notch you get an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

Hardware

Under the hood, the LG G7 One has premium, although a bit outdated, hardware. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 4GB of RAM but with 32GB of internal storage with 64GB as an option. If you feel like the storage is not enough, there’s also a microSD card slot available.

Camera

The LG G7 One comes with only a single rear-facing camera which is sort of a bummer. The single-camera consists of a 16MP sensor with a f/1.6 aperture. The larger aperture should, on paper, provide good low light performance.

The front-facing selfie shooter is an 8MP sensor with a f/1.9 lens and an 80-degree field of view.

Battery and Extras

The LG G7 One comes with a 3,000 mAh battery and to quickly top of the battery when charging, Quick Charge 3.0 is also on board.

Apart from all this, the G7 One also comes with a Quad DAC, DTS:X, an IP 68 water and dust resistance rating and a MIL-810G certification.

LG G7 Fit

Apart from the G7 One, another phone which made it to the stage is the G7 Fit which is basically a stripped down version of the company’s flagship G7 ThinQ.

The G7 Fit uses the same impressive screen as seen on the G7 ThinQ and the G7 One but the processor is quite old. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 under its hood along with 4GB of RAM. Internal storage is also available in either 32GB or 64GB but there’s a microSD card slot available and LG says you can expand the storage up to 2TB, even though memory cards larger than 512GB haven’t been made yet.

G7 FitThe camera configuration is also the same as the G7 One except for the aperture on the back which is actually f/2.2 on the G7 Fit. The software on board is also Android Oreo but with LG’s skin on top which means updates will be slower than its Android One powered sibling.

Apart from that, most of the specifications are the same including the battery, the high-quality quad-DAC, and water resistance rating.

Prices for either of these phones have not yet been announced.
