LG Unveils Curved Gaming Monitors to Compete Against Samsung’s Offerings

Just like Samsung did recently, LG is using its prowess in the television segment to unveil a new line of curved gaming monitors. The two monitors cater to G-Sync and FreeSync each and feature a curved panel for a more immersive gaming experience.

The monitors come with an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio, coupled with narrow bezels for an even more premium look. They have IPS panels, thankfully, rather than TN, and come with 3440 x 1440 resolution or just over 2K.

Tech Specs

The 34GK950G comes with support for G-Sync, as well as a peak of 120Hz refresh rate when overclocked, while the 34GK950F supports FreeSync 2, as well as a peak refresh rate of 144Hz.

The G model does make up for it with LG’s Sphere Lighting system, with support for up to 98% coverage of DCI-P3 color gamut and 135% of the sRGB color space.

Arguably, the biggest feature is the 1900R curvature of the two monitors. It is backed with viewing angles of 178-degrees, both vertically and horizontally. Both the monitors have a response time of 5ms, which is the trade-off for not choosing a TN panel.

Connectivity

For connectivity, you get HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, 2 USB 3.0, and a headphone jack. The stand allows adjustment to the height, tilt, and swivel.

Pricing details are not known as of yet and the same goes for availability, too. Given the prices of recent Acer monitors, these LG monitors too can easily go beyond $1500.
