#Plant4Pakistan Trends on Twitter as Pakistanis Plant Over 2.5 Million Trees

With over 61,000 tweets the federal government’s initiative “Plant for Pakistan” has become a top trend on social media platform, Twitter.

Under this initiative, 10 billion trees are going to be planted throughout the country to protect Pakistan from environmental changes. The response to the campaign has been phenomenal. The initial target of planting 1.5 million trees was crossed easily with the number crossing the 2.5 million mark.

The plantation data retrieved from all over the country on “Plant4pakistanday” progress was as following:

  • Sindh – 809,822
  • KPK – 1,139,400
  • Gilgit Baltistan – 83,800
  • Islamabad – 58,000
  • Azad Kashmir – 30,000
  • Punjab – 278,811
  • Balochistan- 56,056 (reported so far)

A total of 2,455,889 plants (all figures are final except Balochistan) have been reportedly planted throughout the country. Meanwhile, in Balochistan, the number reached 95 thousand according to the CM Balochistan.

As far as social media is concerned, people of Pakistan, especially the youth have enthusiastically participated in this drive and at the time of writing more than 61 thousand tweets are highlighting the thoughts and interest of the public.

Local and foreign Pakistanis are becoming a part of this trend and campaign, whereas the social media team of PTI is also taking part in making the campaign a success. Witnessing the interest of Pakistanis, it is expected that this campaign will easily achieve its targets like the success of the billion tree tsunami in the recent past.
